Y'know, you are 100% right about this. All Gannon did doo in a very visual way of changing the world was taking a massive dump on Hyrule town& castle. You see changes here and there, but never feels like a true world of darkness, like say Link to the Past's dark world. There is an advantage of managing a smaller amount features compared to one that uses 1000 in telling your game story.
