It had been over 5 years since I was last at the Detroit Zoo. The last time I went, the kangaroo exhibit was nothing spectacular. It was just an open area behind a wooden fence and the kangaroos were pretty far away.
That sure changed.
It is not a fenced in area with a path that zoo guests actually walk through. The kangaroos are free range in this area. It was pretty amazing seeing them so close... especially since some of the females had joeys in their pouches.

Lol it's kinda weird seeing Kangaroos in zoos from other parts of the world. I'm glad they made it an open exhibit because basically all zoos here in Australia have them in big open walking areas and you can buy food to feed them and stuff. They're really lovely ^^
