Thabo did not always have glasses. A while back some people decided to have his eyes tested. While Thabo could see all the letters perfectly, it was not known to the specialists that meerkats are generally not able to read (seriously, ever tried to read a book in an unlit tunnel?).
And when they tried on the first glasses, he only got confused. Which prompted them to the most logical conclusion: He needs *BIGGER* glasses.
