Poor little Coyote, that's what you get for messing with Ravens.
(Something from back in college with a convoluted story behind it.)

Howly shite! and there he was only decorating that tree with tribal pictures... :)
frickin' hilarious, ma'am. and so full of curious details... like that OSCAR, a swiss knive, the bead dangling from the rapier's hilt, various knives, axe, forks, an eightball... a book by Edgar Allan? how fitting. :)

So many details! I'm getting lost in it trying to pick out all of Raven's collectables. XD
Gouache though? Seriously?! That's something I only use sparingly.. and in conjunction with watercolor. Never been brave enough to try and complete a whole piece with it. Look at your WIP shots- do you use masking fluid at all or are you just very careful with your brush?

I used to use this as my wallpaper at university a few years back. Still one of my favorites. Makes me smile and laugh a little every time I look at it. And I love all the little bits hidden in the picture from the Orin to the Oscar. Thank you for putting it back up again!
Your expressions are so clear and it makes your illustration come so alive!
This pic of yours also reminds me of a memory of an event which happened to me while teaching a friend how to cook at his home. It got really hectic, like this pic! :3 Great work! You're very talented, but I bet you already know that! =]

Ha! Really? Which book? I am amused. ;]
It was my third year's major project, yes, it and 3 other similar pictures as well as mockups for the rest of the book I was working on at the time, a story me and and a friend wrote called 'Trickster'. What school are you at? Blackpool? ;D

I'll try find out for you tomorrow, well Thursday.
What was the book about anyhow? I mean, you gotta wonder what the book is about if theres a 'yote surrounded by lots of knives xD
I go to a college called Ashton Sixth Form. Did you go to Blackpool? I'm curious now, what A Levels did you choose in college? Artistic ones? Or did ya also go for the more traditional subjects? :P

The book was obviously about devastatingly handsome ravens brutally outsmarting mangy coyotes. Thus all the shiny objects in this picture. Actually in this picture coyote tries to trick ram into ramming repetitively into the base of raven's tree, to knock her nest down. He succeeds (evidently), but instead of finding the shiny moon (which he sought after) he finds the rest of her collection.
I got my BA in Blackpool, they have a degree in Scientific and Natural History Illustration, which I liked, because it was half science (biology, zoology, evolution, etc) and half art. I don't know I'd suggest it these days because all my favorite teachers seem to have fled the establishment. As for A Levels, I never got any technically because I grew up on a farm in Devon with no formal schooling before Uni. Sorry! ;]

Ah, sounds like a really interesting story, what happened with it? I like looking at the picture with that information in mind, it reveals a story of it's own about the ravens and the world they've explored (The stories behind most of the items such as the coins, the queens scepter). It's either that or it's my mind just being over active :P Oh, whats with the markings on the tree trunk? Looks somewhat like a snake head, paw and some other things.
As for the booklet, it's called 'Turning Point', it's a university arts booklet. I got an image though :D I'll just upload it to my Website server.
http://wolf-haven.com/Photo0045.jpg - Sorry about the low quality, I was going to take my DSLR camera but didn't, so I resorted to using my phone.
"I got my BA in Blackpool, they have a degree in Scientific and Natural History Illustration" Yeah, I noticed on top of the page, I should of looked earlier :P
You grew up on a farm, was you working on the farm maintaining the animals? Speaking of which, are you still living in the UK or have you betrayed us and gone to the US? :P
