Poor little Coyote, that's what you get for messing with Ravens.
(Something from back in college with a convoluted story behind it.)
EDIT: Also! If you're the sort that likes progress pictures of gouache paintings such as this, then please enjoy:

I like it! Good work!
I like it! Good work!
Great work and awesome details in the image
LOVE IT!
...unless I've completely missed the intentions of this picture, if that be the case then I'll just shut up...
Amazing amount of detail! And I love the expression
Curiosity may have killed the cat, but the Coyote seemed to just slip by.
Musta been his good looks.
I can only imagine the story behind it. Very great work.
Awesome detail.
frickin' hilarious, ma'am. and so full of curious details... like that OSCAR, a swiss knive, the bead dangling from the rapier's hilt, various knives, axe, forks, an eightball... a book by Edgar Allan? how fitting. :)
But yes, a really good piece of work, this. :)
hm, interesting. there is one of Kenket's technical pencils sticking nearby. now we know where her lair must be.
Love it. Expressions, colors, detail. You've taken great care over them all.
We both love the litle voodoo Fox puppet
I wish I heard the story behind that. Mean, mean raven...
Amazing work, I really love it!
OMG ^^ Poor coyote
I really love this piece! Great job! :)
Gouache though? Seriously?! That's something I only use sparingly.. and in conjunction with watercolor. Never been brave enough to try and complete a whole piece with it. Look at your WIP shots- do you use masking fluid at all or are you just very careful with your brush?
As for the picture itself, its funny because I'm the type of person who would have that happen to ^^. Sharp pointy objects protruding from all around me, yet not a scratch on me :P
Should've known better than to mess with those ravens! *shakes finger*
Absolutely fantastic work, hun! :D The colors are so bright and crisp! I love it. The detail blows my mind too xD
I love the look in the Coyotes eye's.
Also, the progress shots are equally awesome!
I just saw it on a backup disk I made in 2003 or something like that... but Im sure is older
*smirk*
Very lovely drawing! I love the level of detail, and the expressions. it definitely captures the "Oh *#$#!" feeling.
This TOTALLY reminds me of Animalia by Graeme Base. Its a wonderful book with similarly detailed work if you haven't seen it.
Excellent work.
Very, very nice work, and a great expression on the coyote's face. :)
I almost don't dare asking, but are there prints of this available? It's gotten even better now :>
Loved the in progress links. Nice.
This and your thanksgiving dinner, perhaps my favorite works. You have amazing talent and an amusing imagination.
thanks so much for sharing.
This pic of yours also reminds me of a memory of an event which happened to me while teaching a friend how to cook at his home. It got really hectic, like this pic! :3 Great work! You're very talented, but I bet you already know that! =]
Damn, those bird are serious...
That is simply fantastic, especially after seeing what all you did to get this look. WOW
:P
But cute piece. :P i like dis so i faving :)
Oh, and Yay for the Aurin
This was your level 3 work, right? And what story was this for? It said in the book but I forgot xD
It was my third year's major project, yes, it and 3 other similar pictures as well as mockups for the rest of the book I was working on at the time, a story me and and a friend wrote called 'Trickster'. What school are you at? Blackpool? ;D
What was the book about anyhow? I mean, you gotta wonder what the book is about if theres a 'yote surrounded by lots of knives xD
I go to a college called Ashton Sixth Form. Did you go to Blackpool? I'm curious now, what A Levels did you choose in college? Artistic ones? Or did ya also go for the more traditional subjects? :P
I got my BA in Blackpool, they have a degree in Scientific and Natural History Illustration, which I liked, because it was half science (biology, zoology, evolution, etc) and half art. I don't know I'd suggest it these days because all my favorite teachers seem to have fled the establishment. As for A Levels, I never got any technically because I grew up on a farm in Devon with no formal schooling before Uni. Sorry! ;]
As for the booklet, it's called 'Turning Point', it's a university arts booklet. I got an image though :D I'll just upload it to my Website server.
http://wolf-haven.com/Photo0045.jpg - Sorry about the low quality, I was going to take my DSLR camera but didn't, so I resorted to using my phone.
"I got my BA in Blackpool, they have a degree in Scientific and Natural History Illustration" Yeah, I noticed on top of the page, I should of looked earlier :P
You grew up on a farm, was you working on the farm maintaining the animals? Speaking of which, are you still living in the UK or have you betrayed us and gone to the US? :P
Wonderful, magical work... as always! =3
love your use of colors and the details!
