Bought the third Dvd last week. Have the whole collection now. If somebody wouldn't know, this is one of my all-time favorite childhood show...which could use a reboot like MLP had! You can show this cartoon to your kids: It's free of violence, blood, cursing, etc...
Anyway. -> My needs are satisfied. (translating) Mistress is pleased.

Dragoncharm and Dragonstorm from Graham Edwards is a must for every dragon lovers! The books are about dragons, as very intelligent beings trying to fight for survival, as their entire world is about to change... 99% of the cast are dragons, other races appear only as the ecosystem of the world...and it features 6 immortal creatures, the Basilisks. I know, the Basilisk is an existing race, but in this book, they are godlike creatures...but the book is about the dragons anyway.
I would also recommend Susan Salina's works, but she is a Hungarian writer, and I don't think Her work was translated...which is a pity. Her dragon saga easily beats the Lord of the Ring's story anyway. It's film worthy masterpiece, which could put LotR into hiding in shame. Granted LotR was written ages ago, and it's a good fantasy material...

You won't regret it. I have read Dragoncharm as an epic dragon story. Was thrilled to buy Dragonstorm, where the world changes even more, and the Basilisks enter the story. The writer really made the species interesting:
They are having a skin that lives on it's own, keeping the Basilisks alive an unharmed by using the basilisk's great magic powers. It seems like a blessing for a while. Immortality without even thinking about it. Any harm from outside is instantly countered by the skin which are billions of tiny parasites. But after outliving the planets being destroyed and reborn like 20 or more times it gets boring. To know everything, and the memories...become a burden. Everything will return, not sure in what was in which order, it drives the Basilisks to madness to the point, where they try to kill themselves...without success. They try-try-try and fail-fail-fail. They only wish to end their miserable existence, wanting eternal piece more then anything else. They put themselves to coma, to escape from their own maddened mind, but even in coma, they are aware of their surroundings. It's only enough to ease their pain.
At the beginning of Dragonstorm one of the Basilisk wakes up, as it sees a possibility for total destruction, thus begins to collect the other five, and together they could possibly end their eternal torment. What's fascinating is, how the Basilisk travels, space is no limit to it, grasping every chance for ending it's life like a habit, failing every time. It's eyes are still deadly, looking into it means certain death for any other species, It's breath is a cloud of poison, which is as deadly as it's vision. When two of them meet, they breath to each-other, sip up the cloud and part ways. Their own thoughts, every possible answer to any possible answer is imprinted in that one deadly breath. They just breath and they had a conversation, that could last for hours or even days...truly a magnificent read. I was reading the second book rooting for the 6 Basilisks to achieve self-destruction, they are so tormented, one cannot think...And the book is still about the dragons...

Hungarian...I'm from Hungary. It has dual audio (Thanks Tiamat for that!) so English dub I can enjoy! The re-dubed the Hungarian version, and while I have the episodes on VHS the new dialogue s*cks big time. I'm considering ripping the VHS audio and adding to the dvd quality video...much work, no time nowadays.
Just watched the whole thing over on youtube. (Apparently I only ever saw a couple of episodes when I was younger.) And now so help me I want to do an FiM cross over.
I want to see Applejack having a fit over the 'parasprites' that keep wanting to 'nest' in her hair. And learning that having blond hair gives her magical powers. And see Twilight , Dash, and Rarity getting shunned and loosing all their magic because they have darker manes. I'd have ever so much fun with Twilight working with Ravenwaves, Hairball, and the combnomes to relearn magic - while Flutters, AJ and Pinkie get treated like princesses. And have fun with both sides realising how and why the smartest, and most intelligent, hardworking, and likable characters came to be the bad guys...
Wow. I really need to get out more.
