Based roughly on the TVTropes fantasy world map, this is the setting for a retro RPG I'm working on.
Jubilee Hills are the most peaceful and safe area of the world, with weak monsters. Its most notable city of Gnomonia is home to most of the gnomes.
Nortland is a frozen wasteland and has Dorfheim, home to many dwarves and the occasional otter or walrus. Evil penguins, snowmen, and carrots could attack at any moment.
Yondwood is full of dark, withered forests and windy roads up steep hills, with occasional spooky castles. It is home to numerous undead, as well as werewolves. Silberhund is the last bastion of safety for its native humans and non-ravenous wolfmen.
Velorenweald is a thick maze of trees and mundane (though still quite deadly) animals. A settlement could be formed there, but currently is not.
Westmarsh is just a single, huge swamp with lots of bitey and stingy critters. A few barbarian tribes wander it, but they don't settle in one place and build there so no city.
Ponycorn Plains are lands ruled by small-but-powerful unicorns and their magics. They don't take kindly to armed foreigners, and are sometimes thought to barely tolerate their local armed centauroids. Feedbag is the last place to rest before heading into the nearby desert...
...Infernal Sands cause the party to lose HP with every step of travel, often dying of dehydration and burning long before making it all the way across. It is not possible to build a settlement there; few have tried, all have died.
Freast Edgia is a mysteriously pink land, if tales are true. Its natives have pointy ears and stuff. Their city is Fancy.
Down Under has loads of poisonous creatures and other oddities. Topside is home to anthro 'roos mostly.
Ft. D_ M_ has been ruled from by many evil overlords throughout history, each one trying to rename it as something menacing; but as overlords usually fail to produce viable heirs ruthless and competent enough to succeed them, such names are as short-lived as their reigns. Among known names are Darkmoor, Drekmore, Deathmare, Dragmire, and Darthm'hall.
The Floating Palace of the Darkmoon Warriors can only be teleported to, and what secrets it contains are for me to make up later and you to find out.
