That journal about sculpting at wee hours of the morning? This is what I was making. It's made from paperclay, which is pretty much the sculptable, sandable form of paper mache. It's a pretty sturdy material and can be made pretty thin. The beak is hollow, so it's actually pretty light, and it's articulated via elastic (the exact placement of which is subject to some refinements, so the beak opens and closes at the proper angle). Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, I just need to do a few more and refine the technique. And get a better selfie that wasn't taken late at night -v-
