The young Doktor, growing up in the Commonwealth's second-largest city, Weisshafen.
The reason I did this in black and white is that it's very closely based on a thumbnail sketch I liked, the mood of which I tried to transport into the big image as accurately as possible. Which didn't work all that well, but I spent forever on the stupid little buildings in the background (half of the details have been jpegged out now...), so I'll damn well upload it anyway.
Also, because I'm lazy and afraid of colours.
Criticism is always nice.

'Fraid no... I'm too much of a grammar and spelling nazi to a) Communicate quickly enough and b) not want to strangle the person I'm chatting with when they repeatedly ignore basic syntax and use AOL speak. I'm kind of like Mordecai when I chat (http://lackadaisy.foxprints.com/pre.....view_0016.html). It's terrible.
"Did you lie about liking grammar too?"

Wow, cool!
I really like the blur effect; makes it feel like there's some kind of motion to our pov. And the Old-European-cum-Industrial-Nightmare town is great! Makes me want to have adventures there :)
Hee hee nice to see the young doktor. He seems to have a similar outlook on life as my snakey guy...

Lovely work. The detailing on the background is brilliant, very much the appearance of an old East-European city. The blur, while not being too harshly applied (difficult balance to get right), really does add to the feeling of movement, and to the atmosphere - you get the impression that the air there's not just entirely clear! Which if course in a city with that much apparent old style industry going, it wouldn't be.
Enough with the technical dissection of the image though - it's got a great feel to it, and definitely deserves a fave I reckon.

I'd say you've got the East-European look right!
While I'm in Britain, and have never actually BEEN to any of the countries in question - from what I've seen in photographs and various movies, that's the first sort of location that sprang to mind. Particularly the way there are the factories there - and sandwitched in the middle are buildings of once-grand arcitecture, just having been over time, overtaken, swallowed up and dwarfed by the industrial revolution taking place around them.
