just a WIP of the coloring of BlindSeer. I've forgotten a lot of things over the years when it comes to colored pencil, so it's far from good.
I decided on a blue roan kind of coloring for him with yellow/gold neck guard scales. I haven't quite decided on how I'm going to do the wings, so that's why they haven't quite been colored yet. I'm using a mix of Staedtler and Prisma pencils and a colorless blender that's not exactly colorless since it has a streak of yellow in it -_-
anyway, i'm actually kinda excited to be getting back into traditional stuff. If I were to do commissions for it, it would be sketches or linearts to begin with until I can get the money to get new supplies, since everything I have is old and overly used
anyway, will scrap at a later date

I have to original preserved for safe keeping, just in case I fuck this one up. I made a copy of it and re-inked it because the scanner washed out the black lol...
and by analyze, do you mean critique? Because as long as it's constructive criticism, i need all the help i can get

Yeah, that's what I meant by analyze.
But it's very noticeable (for me at least) that there wasn't much burnishing done (and I know this is a WIP, but still) on the middle/waist and tail areas. That would either be done with a colorless blender or the white colored pencil, and possibly a blending stick if you have one of those.
There's also a lot of 'rough' color transitions/blends, differentiating the fur on the thighs, with those of the calves. And the general lack of directional lighting causes some of the darker shades of blue on the creature (near the wings especially) look a bit misplaced.
But anyways, you're doing a very good job, an' I liked what you did an' stuff.
I wouldn't suggest using this technique on this artwork, but if you haven't looked into it, using isoprophyl alcohol or some other dissolution agent on the colored pencil (as long as there is enough applied) can allow for some really nice blended colors if applied via brush. Just gotta make sure you've got some good paper for it, not say... copy paper ;)

well, sadly, the only "colorless" blender I have isn't exactly colorless, so until I can either get a new set or send this one to prismacolor with an angry letter and hopefully get a free one back, the burnishing will have to wait :c I don't have any tortillions either, so eh.
But I do thank you for your suggestions :U I'll have to look up youtube vids of the alcoholing process

I bought this guy's book, so I expect that his videos are pretty awesome too, you might want to look into one of 'em http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngyW0-xdpAY
I think the design is pretty awesome, and the little smile you got there is great as well! As for the coloring... well, you did better than me, so I really can't say anything. Overall, I think you did splendidly. I just have one question: how come his back legs are so long? xD
