Nope, in this story, Reva was never good, he was specifically choosen to be what he is, ward of the sand and master of the blade. Every two hundred years, he singles out the chosen knight of the sword and refuses to acknowledge the rest of the knights until either defeated or he has has killed the sword knight. This year is different though, as he's grown bored of the routine...
