Purple? OH SHI-!!
Anyways, Flaerion here wanted me to come up with some very nice, revealing sexy body armor and a whoopass-huge plasma gun, and you know me, I love that kinda shit, and this is what popped out.
Also, I consider this pic to have gotten the best reaction, when I sent her a progress shot yesterday, which reduced her to a gibbering little pile of orgasms. Hey, I like orgasms!
Anyways, here it is, heavily 'shopped background and glowing hot containment coils and all.

As I mentioned over MSN, this turned out HELLA SEXY! x3
And is now proudly displayed in our SL skybox, along with my piece. xD
You really made Flaer very happy with this, she's been so eager to get something like this for a very long time. So, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for making this happen for her. :)
You are teh awesome. <33

Ten terawatts means ten terajouls per second, so does that also take into account rate-of-fire?
Or is it ten terajoules per shot, one shot per second or so?
If so, that's pretty impressive considering the average modern tank cannon is - for example, the German L55 cannon, the latest in the series of guns used on the M1 Abrams tanks, firing tungsten penetrators is pushing around 18-20 megajoules and is basically the most powerful non-nuclear anti-armor weapon in the world. (The Davy Crocket 'nuclear bazooka' used a Mk.54 warhead, which could fire at yields from 10 tons to 1 kiloton, or 4.184 terajoules. That makes this thing a 2-kiloton 'Macross penis cannon'.)

watts is not a measure of total energy, it's a matter of energy per second. A battery might store 5 kilojoules, and release it at a rate of 1 kilowatt, which would deplete the battery in five seconds.
The thing with extreme overkill to the max is ... I'm a firm believer in the rule "There is no such thing as overkill. There is only 'open fire' and 'I need to reload'." Except where there's so much backlash that the minimum safe range is longer than the effective range of the weapon. ^_^

you never cease to amaze, my friend! ^-^ why must you draw tech so well???
anywho, this one did come out very nice; i especially like the BRIGHT orange visor that draws attention to those eyes, as well as the realistic detail you put into the cannon (ala HUD) just kinda wondering, but what does that small-ish pack on her back do?

As I'm the designer of the tech's functional side, Strype just made it all pretty, I can answer this.
FPS-5 Fusion PowerPac is the technical name, as detailed in a short story of mine.
The backpack serves as a power source for the various parts of the armor, weaponry, and to supplement an internal, but not shown device implanted within her. Its capabilities also include provisions for 'long jump' capacity as well. It utilizes a compact, cold fusion reactor fueled by metalic hydrogen. Think of something with enough power to a capitol class battle cruiser @.@ Best if kept intact and undamaged with regards to its ungodly power output.
If you ya like, I can upload the story to FA.

Metallic hydrogen exists under beyond extreme pressure. The cores of a couple planets in our solar system are partially or completely composed it.
And thank you muchly! I've tried very hard to apply real world technology, nuclear physics, and theoretical physics to create in my mind a very different world. x3

forgot that pressure affects state of matter as well. XP d'oh.
and i didn't know that a couple of planets in our solar system had metallic hydrogen cores... but hang on. i may not have gotten to cold fusion, but i know that any nuclear reaction is in danger of going to critical mass, and i know that fission reactors use cooling rods... so does this one therefore use some kind of heat to fuse the molecules? not entirely sure how one would get energy from that... and yet somehow the sun produces heat and light from a fusion reaction... gah, now i'm confused!! @_@

Heat and or pressure can force fusion. The use of pressure will generate heat, and the use of heat will generate pressure. It goes either way. However, with out retaining either the heat or the pressure, fusion stops. Therefore no containment vessels are needed to stop a core failure. The core simply ruptures and the 'working gas' inside is allowed to stop fusing. Fission requires cooling and moderation to prevent the splitting of atoms to run out of control and melt. The immutable fact of any thermal reactor is that the fission fuel is actually never critical, otherwise it can explode. In a fusion reactor, next to no fuel is in the toriod core chamber because a plasma is the least dense phase of matter. It retains no radioactive isotopes or compounds, only heat and free electrons, gamma rays, and neutron radiation are emitted if I remember correctly. Given a strong enough magnetic containment system, even the radiation is contained, and given this technology is based about 300 years from now, its easy to realize the existance of 'hight temp' superconductor magnetic coils for use in a fusion pack.
And wow... I typed all this while drunk. xD

I means like near as in... 20 feet or something. You think a charged shot of Samus's Plasma gun mixed in with her missile shot might be good competition?
Or would her final smash or Hyper Mode compare to it?
I would like to hit on her, yet like... I'd probably fried if I even tick her off a bit. Well, actually, now that I think about it, it depends. If she's nice I guess she's tolerant. I still fear her though.
I wonder what would happen if her energy was used to create electromagnetic charges. You think that would create a stronger beam of light? Because electricity is almost like raw energy and heat.

Samus' final smash might compare to it, if we were to give her the benefit of the doubt.
A better comparison (that really exists!) would be an upgunned version of the Davy Crockett nuclear bazooka, firing a full-yield W54 nuclear warhead.

At this point energy is energy is energy - it'll all end up as heat and light and blast, except for the X and gamma radiation.

Now that's just fucking sweet. The pic, the character and the gun. I'm really loving the discussion here too. I've always striven (strove?) to make my character as detailed and realistic as possible, which is highly problematic to begin with since his very essence goes beyond "improbable", not unlike most comic book "bricks". Very damn cool all around.
Great image.. so dynamic.. and her "Had enough yet?" expression is superb, assuming that is, that whomever she shot that big plasma gun at is still around.
You could not say that being hit by that gun would hurt lots, there would be nothing left of you if shot with it. Period.
Kudos to you man. Love your art.

really nice actually!
But it remember me of this one...

anyway it is a really nice illustration! :D
