Ever wondered where my FA name came from? Here's the story. I grew up watching a certain well known anime, called Sailor Moon (or as Nostalgia Critic so affectionately calls it, Magical Girl Squad Robo Dance Yes). I may have been the ONLY boy I knew who watched the show at that time. But anyway. The show was good, and being one of the more imaginative kids on the block, I thought... why don't they make a boy version? (Wasn't aware of Ronin Warriors or Saint Seiya at the time.) As such, this was the character I created. Well, not long after creating him (I think a year...?), I got a Game Boy game called Mega Man V, and upon reaching the final boss, I learned that they too had named him Sunstar. (OMG IT WASN'T WILY?!) Having just become aware of copyright shit and the like, I defeatedly gave up on the character since, well, I couldn't think of a better name.

Cut to my teens when I look it up and discover the name never REALLY got trademarked by Capcom, and his original name wasn't even Sunstar! (It was Sungod in Japan, I WONDER why they changed it. O3O) Over the years, I've been kicking him around in my head again... and now he is finally realized as a character, design and all! >=D

The Backstory? GLADLY! =D

Long ago, five beings of the elements served as guardians of the planet earth. They referred to themselves as the Kemono Defenders, a team of five extraordinary Kemonomimi imbued by the powers of the Star Beasts. After a long and brutal war, the Kemono Defenders emerged victorious against the threat known as the Seima (Star Devils). However, as they were no longer needed, they soared to the stars above, leaving behind a reassuring message for all sentient life: "As long as you keep hope in your hearts... we will always be watching over you... and one day, we swear to return when we are once more needed... all you need to do is look to the sun..." After many years, the Seima, thought banished for good, re-emerged from their supposed imprisonment. The earth, sensing danger approaching, called to the stars for help... and a single fire-red gemstone burst forth from the sun on the day of a solar flare, speeding toward the earth.

The stone streaked towards earth, and wound up in the hand of Taichi Hoshino, an 18 year old Okamimimi (wolf boy) who was pure of heart but dim of wit. Upon grabbing the gem after it landed in front of him, he was approached by a man named Seirou, a middle-aged Okamimimi claiming to be the emissary of the heroes of legend. He believed that the gem, named the Shining Sun Ruby, had chosen a new hero to replace the now long dead leader of what was called the Kemono Defenders. The man told Taichi to hold the gem aloft and speak the transformation spell...

"Holy Wolf Star Henshin!"

In an instant, a beam of light from a star in the sky shone upon him, and before he had time to react, a suit of armor plates attached to his body. Though initially in shock, Taichi quickly accepted his new role as the burning warrior of justice and hope... the Kemono Soldier Sunstar!

Sunstar is not particularly bright at most times, but he is always willing to fight for what he believes is right. He occasionally will team up with non-Kemono Defenders to take down additional threats to the city, but for the most part, he specializes in the destruction of Seima. Thanks to the power of the Shining Sun Ruby, he has access to a number of fire-based attacks, his most-used signature attack being the Blazing Wolf Wave, a surge of fire energy that erupts from his hand and burns his enemies to ashes.

Sunstar: Where darkness falls... the light of hope follows not far behind! And with it, the burning soldier of justice appears! I am the Kemono Soldier Sunstar! Beings of shadow, tremble in fear!!! *sentai pose*
