
I have the next week off work and I thought I would kick it off with a speed(ish) paint of some poor sod getting caught by a strafing run!
..I've been playing a LOT of ace combat 6 again....might have rubbed off on me XD
took about 4 hours in Photoshop using photos as a collage for the background ;)

haha I've heard good things about it and I was looking at it all day yesterday REALLY wanting to buy it on steam XD its where I got the inspiration for the plane crumbling to bits XD
what put me off in the end was the "dog fight mechanic thing" I'm not sure if I'll like it :( I probably WILL pick it up soon, but GTA comes out on Tuesday so i will be distracted by that for a while XD

Ah Dog Fight Mode, while it increases the damage of your weapons and Impact chance its a little over used. but the systems works both ways Offensive and Defensive. It gives a beautiful Cinematic shot of your kills too, including the pilot flying out of the cockpit. Downside, they also did it for Ground attack runs Dubbing it ASM(however not as common but it serves its point) where at times it gives you a Recommended attack route(green) or an Emergency attack route(Red this one is not optional) and like in DFM your weapons get a Damage and recharge boost.

As much as this is omfgyes, there's some inconsistencies not necessarily related to art but the subjects. Su-33 has canards and main wings fold up for ease of storage (I can't remember the different designations between the Flankers so I usually just call this dude the Navy Flanker as per IRL), and I see neither canards nor little linething for where the wings fold up. How the fuck did an aircraft at that altitude get caught in a strafing run? I can't help but laughing knowing that is going by the Navy Flanker's disintegrating corpse on afterburn just to mock it.
Lastly, Ace Combat Assault Horizon is fucking horrible for gameplay. There is only one proper way to play. Fly around on constant afterburner volleying around around thirty VOLLEYS (Yes. Each single is a full volley.) six maximum multilock long range missiles and initiating automatic pursuit when you can to ensure a downed plane. If a player initiates automatic pursuit on you, you are dead. You can have a Berkut on full performance enhancement and throw them into the ground and/or weave through buildings at supersonic (if they don't manage to down you with endless, unlimited weapons volleying focused all on you), but apparently aircraft don't entirely die upon impact with terrain or buildings, or take serious damage on trimming terrain or buildings. Instead, they just kind of bounce off and giggle about it tickling and, if they're in automatic pursuit, nothing gained, nothing lost.
In Ace Combat Assault Horizon, there is no evasion, just constant gunfire, afterburn, and enough explosions there should be no atmosphere in the area. Nothing is revitalized because nothing was dying, however it is beaten thoroughly to being within inches of it's life for little more reason than 'Hey, maybe we can attract some faggots from Tom Clancy's HAWX to give us some money.'
Now let me make myself as clear as possible. DFM makes nothing easier, it makes everything completely futile, because there is no outmanuevering and there is no evasion. Just point, click, and kill things until somebody points and clicks you to kill you.
