but this critique drove me nuts.

The aliens were physical beings that walked around totally nude so they probably don't carry any tools or weapons.
A locked (or blockaded one of the two) door would stop them... because it's made of solid matter!

If someone locked me in a pantry (assuming it's strong wood) I'd be stuck. I come from a species that's been to the moon, created atomic super weapons and created 5 seasons of Breaking Bad.

But that doesn't mean JACK when I'm trapped because I'm still just a person! It's solid, they're solid that's how prisons usually work

.... that being said the water thing was immensely stupid. Seriously, your one weakness is water and you attack a planet made mostly of water!?

That being said... we have tons of water vapor in the atmosphere anyway, it's a wonder they didn't melt stepping out of their craft.
