Kushter awoke with a startle. There was an icy breeze going across his apparently bare feet.
He sat up, realizing that his boots were... gone. And that he couldn't move his hands from behind his back. He also noticed his legs were entrapped in what appeared to be some sort of composite rock material... almost looked like a termite mound...
He paddled his feet as he tried to recall what led up to this event... he was traversing the lower mines as part of an ahead team... they all four split up... he found... what was it, what was it...? He had found something...
Then someone...
His thoughts were interrupted by something slinking towards him. There were various invisible pockets of bioluminescent spots throughout the cave that provided decent lighting. His HUD adjusted it to a much easier level of light, and thusly, he could clearly observe the six-legged lizard creature walking up to him.
the creature didn't startle him at all. It was a common as seeing a rat in a factory basement. It was a Heptapedic Beriskor, a common cave-dwelling creature. It ate insects and moss, and never posed much of a threat, despite its intimidating fangs and carnivorous appearance. Those were simply for show. Kushter never found them to be violent...
Still, it wasn't entirely comfortable to watch this creature approach his naked feet with a very curious and playful expression. He knew that although such creatures had a basic empathy, they lacked the ability to truly understand someone else's position. Even if it thought they were just playing a game, it could seriously hurt him...
Such thoughts were accelerated when the animal started sniffling at Kushter's feet hungrily. "Oh, ye gods!! No!! Find something else to eat, dammit!!", he called out, more in irritation than fear.
But no amount of waving his feet around or attempting to kick (and failing) would get the hungry lizard to back off. As it opened its maw, Kushter clenched his eyes and prepared for pain.
Which may have been part of why he was so unprepared when he started laughing.
"BWAHAHAHAHEHEHEHEHEEHEEHAAAAHAAAHAAAAAAA!! W-WHAHAHAT the fuck're youhoohooohoo-?!"
The lizard smile wide as it rasped its tongue along his tender, unguarded soles. Someone had been kind enough to spread an incredibly thin layer of the bioluminescent moss along these two jumpy, fleshy things in front of it. It was rare to be exposed like this, and in this quantity, was a rare treat. And on top of that, it was on a rather nice texture to lick off of that tasted good in and of itself... maybe it would keep licking even after it finished with the moss...
... Strange, sci-fi scenarios are fun to draw. As are two-toed feets. c:
I wonder who left our friend Kushter there...? And was kind enough to feed that lizard using Kushter's feet?
Maybe Kushter's "secret admirer" will strike again soon...
