A great, Japanese mythology-oriented tale told by the amazing couple of
n0ir and
teran~, but Teran was actually the one who won this. This was extremely fun to write, and I tried to add some comical bits. I actually think it may have worked. Expect Tengus, Eastern VS. Western dragons, and maybe a shapeshifting badger- it's interesting, I tell ya.
Enjoy, guys.

A dirt-covered, plate metal car rolled down a similarly dirty and cracked street, its engine rattling. A forest was starting to grow alongside the street, young trees blooming from the ancient wreckage. The two occupants- a red and black dragon and a blue and white one- were talking, the red and black dragon at the wheel. The two had just raced a large race across Italy a little while ago, all in an attempt to get cash so the blue and white one could join his lover as a dragon. Obviously, the two succeeded. They had distributed most of the prize money to the racers who weren’t as lucky to win, and had somehow managed to keep a large sum. Part of this was because Teran, the new blue and white dragon, had sold his racing vehicle a short time after the race. Noir- the other dragon- was fine with that, because they weren’t entering any other races any time soon.
These two held out for each together through the thick and thin of the race, and their relationship actually landed them in the lead. They emerged with first and second places, strengthening their bond even more.
They were traveling away from Italy, and across Europe. Their intention was too get to Spain, where a massive ferry ran between there and Florida. They had the intention of having a good honeymoon- they had found a good place to be wed about a week after the Italia prix. It was getting late, and they were in what was France.
The dust billowed behind their car as they happily chatted about the race and their relationship, wondering what to do in Florida when they get there.
Noir looked down to his fuel gauge.
'We’re low on fuel...’ He commented.
'Didn’t we just use the last of the reserves?’ Teran asked.
'Yeah, that was them. Looks like we’re going to need to stop for the night at the next town.’ Noir said. He swung the car onto a side road.
'Thats fine, we were going to have to stop soon anyhow.’ Teran replied, shrugging. The local town was one of the new ones that sprung up around the world, made from brick and recycled materials. The two parked at a gas station, watching the sun go down.
A young wolf pup ran by, shouting something happily.
'The story teller’s here! What type of story will he weave today?’ He shouted cheerfully to the children running behind. The couple looked each other.
'Story teller? Interesting. I wonder what type.’ Noir said.
'Does it matter? I’m interested.’ Teran said, putting his arm around Noir. He quickly kissed him on the cheek, which made the black and red dragon smile.
'Yeah, lets.’ Noir agrees. after filling the tank, the two get back in and start driving, following the occasional child going that way. They found themselves in the parking lot of an old school, and the children were in the gym, sitting on some folding chairs in the center of the floor. The two dragons walked in, looking at the few dozen children in the seating area, chatting. One said something about the story teller being missing.
'Where could he be?’ Teran asked theoretically. The two started searching, and peaked into the boys’ locker room. There was an old bird from the parrot family sitting on a bench, wheezing. He looked to be some sort of larger parrot with green feathers, and he wore a pair of black formal slacks, some leather boots that were durable and good looking, along with a thick leather vest and a short sleeve button shirt. The two dragon ran over and helped him to his feet. Teran picked the water bottle off the floor that the parrot had dropped, and gave him a drink as Noir supported him.
'Ugh, thanks you two.’ He said, still tired out. 'I’m an old bird, and I’m not in the greatest shape either...’
'Hey, we’ve got you. You should try to relax, take a breather. I’m guessing you’re the story teller?’ Noir asked.
'That’s me. Are you two...?’ He asked.
'Yeah, we’re on a honeymoon, hehe.’ Noir said. 'At least, we’re going there. Florida.’
'Well, you two probably didn’t expect to help an old man like me, now did you?’ He said, almost laughing. He broke into a coughing fit, which stopped quickly.
‘It’s not a problem, we were staying here anyhow. My name’s Teran, and this is the love of my life, Noir.’ Teran said, putting an arm around Noir’s waist, which he did so back.
‘And my name is Darcy Cromwell, Story Teller. I usually travel around, telling stories to keep the children amused, but I’m getting old. The children are probably wanting a story, I’m sorry to disappoint them. Could you two go out and tell them to leave?’ He asked.
'No, we’ll tell them a story’ The couple said almost at once. The looked at each other, surprised.
'Wow, you’re eager. Have fun.’ Darcy said, smiling. He sat down on the bench as the Noir and Teran walked out of the room. The couple sat down in the two chairs in front of the children. They chirped up, asking about who the two were and what they would speak about.
'Shush children, shush.’ Noir said, quieting them down. 'My name is Noir, and this is Teran- we will be telling the story tonight. And what’s the story, you ask? Its a fine tale of adventure, action, and suspense all in Japan! Take it away, Teran.’ Noir said.
'Thanks, hun.’ Teran replied. He thought for a second, and began.
'A long time ago, Noir and I were on a boat heading to Japan from China, disguised as humans. Back then, they were still around. The original reason we were heading there was a sight-seeing trip, a vacation, basically. Everyone needs those at some point, hehe.
'We stood at the prow of the ship, arm in arm and watching Japan near us from the horizon. The sun was shining, and the others on the ship had come to know us quite well, seeing as we were traveling from another far away land. Noir’s disguise was a red-haired man, and mine was one with such a dark blue hair it was almost black. Slowly, but surely, we neared the bay.
'We had decided to pay for the trip with a large sum of money we had won from winning a chariot race earlier, and thus we were actually richer than most of the people on the ship. We had actually bought everyone on board lunch, and we decided to just wait until we landed in the bay. We, as we were not human, were able to spot the other non-humans in the crowd. That is, if there were any; it was a rather uninteresting crowd. But it does get more interesting, trust me.’
Noir continued.
'The boat sailed in within the next few hours, in time for dinner. The town we were entering went by the name of Ritorubei , which loosely translated meant Little Bay. Ritorubei was seemingly a paradise; they were in a good location for accepting good from all around the world, and the ocean in the area was rich and plentiful with all varieties of fish. They had the good life. As far as we knew at the time anyhow, hehe.
“This town is so amazing! We should find somewhere to eat.” I said.
'Teran put his arm over mine, saying; “We really should. Up to trying sushi?” He asks. I agree, and we head off to find the nearest sushi place.’ Noir said. He took a breath, then stretched. The children were silent, but interested.
'Well, we did find that sushi place- a small hut run by a lonely, but happy woman.’ Teran said. ‘She saw us as two foreigners, not the dragons that we were. There was only a pair of tables, and we grabbed one. The lady came over to our table.
“Welcome to Li Cheng’s Sushi shack.” She says, introducing herself at the same time. “Could I get you anything?” We ordered each a healthy portion of some salmon
'So, are you two going to be staying here long?’ She asked, de-scaling some fish with her back turned to us. Teran whispered in my ear about doing just that before giving me a quick kiss.’
The children looked at the dragon couple quizzically.
'One thing you kids will learn from this story is there’s more than just a male-female relationship.’ Teran added. Noir agreed. 'Shall I continue?’ He then asked.
'If you want, hun.’ Teran said. Noir cracked his knuckles.
“We plan to stay in the area for awhile, yeah.” I responded.
“You best be careful then, demons have been messing with things. Could even be the local dragon.” she said. We looked at each other. An Eastern Dragon?
“What does it usually do?” Teran asked.
'Causes droughts, lessens the amount of fish, sometimes even kills people by causing things to crush or fall on them. It’s rough.’ Cheng said.
We were quiet for a moment, confused. Weren’t the local dragons supposed to be friendly?
A scream echoed, yet Cheng didn’t react.
‘Didn’t you just hear that?!’ I shouted. Teran was quickly looking around.
'Hear what?’ Cheng asked. Another scream- this one sounded like someone was getting murdered. Teran was already out of his seat.
'Noir love, come on!’ He shouted. We got up and started running towards where the scream came from, forgetting our meals. Teran lead the way, as we leapt over the various stalls and dodged people. A few minutes later, we found ourselves in an alleyway, with a woman dead, slumped up against the wall.
'Teran went over, questioning why no one else had heard it and why the people just outside the alleyway didn’t seem to see her. Or indeed, us. A local hawk watched us from a roof, but then flew away. Or at least, that’s what we thought.’
A few of the children were asleep before, but woke up when their fellows shook them. They knew the story was now going to get interesting. Noir gestured to Teran, who had an idea. He continued.
'I was really confused. This woman, dead? And no one even cared.
“No one’s even caring that there’s a woman dead.” I said.
“What the hell’s wrong with this town?” Noir added.
“Nothing, actually.” A third voice from behind Noir said. We turned to see a man in full samurai regalia standing behind Noir. “It’s just a magic spell, she’s not real.”
We looked to the body, which quickly faded away into nothing.
“But still, no one heard her but us.” I said.
“I composed her scream to be just audible by anything not human- and yes, I know you two are westerner dragons. Don’t bother with the disguises; this alleyway is hidden from view to humans.” The man said. We removed our disguises. He was right- there was even a man in a stall facing straight at us, but he didn’t react. We were hidden.
“So, what are you, then?’ Noir asked as he lead us into the nearby building.
'Just the local Tengu. I don’t really have a name worth speaking of.’ He said. We walked through the door- and found ourselves somewhere else. It seemed to be on one of the large cliffs overlooked the village. 'I shall explain as we travel. Do you have a spell to hide yourselves while flying?’ He asked. We shook our heads in a no. The tengu sighed.
'Alright, looks like we’re walking.’ He said.
'But where are we going, and why do you want us?’ I said.
'I know you’ve heard of the dragon that’s causing the village trouble- that’s my task. To stop him. I also need help.’
'So you call on the two visiting dragons from the west, huh?’ Noir said. 'Teran love, you up to it?’
‘I kissed him on the cheek. 'Of course, hun.’
The Tengu gave us an odd stare. 'Well, you’re a... uh... unique couple, I must say.’
'Don’t knock it, you... Tengu! Argh, we need to give you a name.’ I said. I thought for a second. 'How about Ted? I’ve always wanted to meet someone called Ted, hehe.’
'Doesn’t matter. We have a badger to find for help.’ Ted the Tengu replied.
'Badger?’
Teran leaned back in his chair, quite happy with his part. Noir toke the next part with a nod to the children.
“We had walked for about a day until we entered what seemed to be a thick forest. The trees were thick, overgrown, and seemed to be intentionally blotting out the sunlight.
'Looks like his sort of place. You two, stand on guard. Anything could appear.’ Ted said.
'No kidding, this forest doesn’t look very friendly to me.’ I said.
'But it’s a forest, and badgers live in forests.’ Teran replied. He turned to Ted. 'So, why are we looking for this guy?’
'Around here, most animals have their own magical properties. This badger, although weak in body, is strong in intelligence and spirit. He’ll let us into the dragon’s palace.’ Ted replied. A cold wind blasted through the trees. 'Come on. Human are automatically repelled from this forest, so your disguises won’t be needed here.’ As we walked in, our disguises were shed. Ted reverted back to his hawk form and landed on a tree. He flew over to the next one.
'I guess we follow.’ I said. Teran nodded, and we followed.
We walked on, that cold wind slowly blasting us colder, strong, and more often.
'What the hell’s wrong with the wind?’ I asked.
'Deterrent for humans that somehow enter here. I think.’ Ted replied.
'Thanks, Ted.’ I then said sarcastically.
A tree branch cracked to our side and a human female of rather dazzling looks stepped into our path. She beckoned, but neither Teran nor I even responded to her catcall. Ted on the other hand reverted to his human form and fell out of the tree with a loud crash. He quickly got up and said something about her looks, when slowly walking towards her. Teran was totally confused, and so was I. But then, I had an idea. Before coming here, we studied up on the local mythical beasts which were all too common to us. This woman was a fox- spirits of seduction like them obviously can’t break our bond, and thus have no effect on us. But Ted was lured like a moth to a flame.
‘Get out of here, you fox!’ I shouted. The woman looked at me like I was mad, but then barred some fangs. Ted was still staggering towards her like he was drunk.
‘I’ll stop Ted, you stop that crazy lady!’ Teran shouted.
‘Sounds good to me!’ I replied, running towards the lady, arms out ready to tackle her. Teran blocked Ted with some strength, but Ted knocked him over. I, on the other hand, landed on top of the woman, and suddenly she vanished. Well, not quite. A fox with a broken leg started limping away. I stood up and brushed off my hands. I helped Teran up, but Ted was out cold.
‘Thanks, hun.’ Teran said. ‘But how are we going to get Ted back to helping us?’
‘No need, gentlemen.’ An old voice said. An old man wearing a coat of badger pelts stepped out from behind a tree. Not good, the pelts?
‘Are you...?’ Teran asked.
‘Yes, I’m the local badger that your friend’s been trying to find.’ The man said. ‘Come on, follow me.’ He changed to a large badger and nudged up against Ted’s unconscious body, which somehow changed back to his hawk form, which the Badger put over his back. He started strolling down a thin, almost invisible path.’
Noir took a drink from a water bottle that he found sitting by his seat.
'Bbuuuttt what happens next?’ A child said, confused.
‘Oh, we haven’t even gotten to the good stuff yet, hehe.’ Noir replied. ‘Teran, your turn.’
‘Alright, hun.’ Teran replied, taking a drink from the same water bottle. He began.
‘A short while later we found ourselves by a massive tree of a species neither Noir or I could recognize. Badger pushed aside some branches and entered a gap in the roots, which led inside the towering tree. The room inside had a bed in the center, cushioned with straw. The walls were lined with shelves, closets, and all sorts of other storage apparatus cut straight from the tree. We were able to comfortably stand inside the room, just couldn’t have our wings out too far; the ceiling was seven feet high.
Badger set Ted down on the bed and changed to his human form. Ted also changed to his human shape.
'How do you change his form like that?’ I asked.
'Haha, you westerners don’t know a thing about shapeshifting, or any magic, now do you?’ Badger said. He opened a cupboard and pulled out several vials of stuff, a small rice-paper wrapped package, and a mortar and pestle.
'We know a bit of magic.’ Noir said.
'A bit. I know potions on how to make all kinds of dazzling things, and I can heal the sick and injured. This Tengu has been a friend of mine for many, many years, and I will follow his word if need be. I know he has collected you two for help against that dragon, is this correct?’ Badger said. He poured a few of the liquids and some red flakes from the paper package into the mortar, then started crushing it with the pestle.
'It is.’ I said. He offered some of the red flakes, eating one himself.
'Have some Hawthorn flakes. Quite good, and somehow helps with problems like this.’ Badger said. Noir and I each took one, and found it to be quite unique in flavor- fruity, but that’s where any similarity ends to western fruits. 'I guess he needs me for my knowledge, then.’
'Probably. Do you have anything which may get us in to the Dragon’s palace?’ Noir asked.
'I should.’ Badger replied. He took his mix and made Ted sip it a few times. Ted flung himself up shouting something, and actually knocking Badger over and spilling the mix all over him.
'My friend, must you do that?’ Badger said.
'Sorry.’ Ted replied. Badger got up.
'So, our mutual friends here said you were finally going after that meddling dragon at your village, and were coming to me for help, yes? What do you need me for?’
'Your skills, my friend. Also, you said you had some enchanted skeleton keys before.’ Ted replied.
'Ah yes, those. Can open just about any lock.’ Badger replied. He went over to a chest, rummaged around in it, and brought out a massive ring of keys. He tossed them to Ted, who strapped them to his belt. 'I’m, of course, behind you in whatever quest you’re prepared to undertake, but know this- it better be righteous.’
'Of course, old friend.’ Ted replied. He turned to us. 'Looks like we have a team. You two Westerners best know how to fight.’
'Of course, ready to fight anytime.’ Noir said, cracking his knuckles.
'You guys got a weapon?’ I asked. Badger opened a closet and tossed me a light metal bow and a quiver of arrows.
'This bow can withstand various ways of shooting most can’t- due to the metal. Launch multiple arrows, rapid-launch them, up to you. And you, black and red dragon?’
'Name’s Noir- must of forgotten to mention that. And of course, this is Teran.’ Noir said, gesturing to me. I smiled. 'Got any daggers?’
'Not the western type. I have Tantos- our assassin’s blade.’ Badger said. He passed two blades to Noir- they were similar to katanas in blade design, shape, and handle size, but the blade was only a third of the length. The hand guards were non-existent.
'Looks good enough for me. Let’s move.’
Teran took a breather and looked out the window. The sun had set, and a bright, full and gigantic moon had risen.
'How fitting...’ Noir muttered. 'Hun, you want to continue, or shall I?’
'I guess I will, love.’ Teran replied. Several of the children had fallen asleep. 'Aw, they’ll miss the end...’
'We walked for another day, Badger with us this time around. He, unlike the two of us, was old and thus had a harder time keeping up. We made it back to the village a little behind schedule- and found the village in a sorry state. Several buildings looked like they had been burnt to the ground, and dead were everywhere. They looked like they died from the plague.
'What the hell...?’ I said as we entered.
'Must be the dragon’s doing.’ Ted said. ‘Come on, we have to make haste!’ Ted shouted we started running through the town’s roads, heading towards the local pond. An explosion rocked the earth, knocking me off my feet. Noir helped me up.
'What the hell was that?!’ Ted shouted.
'Gunpowder, you insane Tengu! The dragon’s servants have explosives!’ Badger shouted. As he said that, a demon walked out of a house, a severed woman’s head in his hand, hanging by the hair. Its skin was pitch black, it had but one eye, a long tongue, and a tattered straw hat. It was also ten feet tall, extremely muscular, and it wore nothing but a loincloth and its hat. I quickly fired three arrows at once into its chest, which did nothing.
'Crap, that thing’s big...’ Noir said. 'Distract it, guys!’ He ran into the nearby alleyway. I knew he had a plan. I fired off another three arrows, and Badger was summoning up something. Ted had somehow gotten a simple peasant’s sword and was charging at it.
'Hey, over here you butt-ugly thing!’ I shouted. I unleashed another threesome of arrows which slammed into its face, stunning it and making it roar. Suddenly, noir was leaping from the roof of the nearest building, Tantos in hand, blade down. He slammed them into the back of the demon’s skull, killing it instantly.
'Good work, love!’ I shouted.
'You too.’ Noir said. I caught up with him and kissed him on the cheek- no time for a hug right now. Another demon was approaching, this one with a massive metal barrel under its arm. This one had dark blue skin and massive teeth, but otherwise it was the same as the first one. It was overweight as well- perhaps a leader?
I then noticed the half a dozen more metal barrels strapped to its back.
'That one’s got the explosives- watch out!’ Badger shouted. He summoned up a fire ball which hit the demon in the leg, stumbling it. It said something that must of been a string of curses and then threw the barrel at us- more specifically, at Ted. It exploded, and he got flung high up, landing with a crash through a nearby roof.
'I’m alright!’ He shouted.
'Badger, shoot the barrels with your fire! You may just detonate them!’ I shouted.
'Great idea, Teran!’ Badger shouted. 'He started summoning up a massive one.
'No back open to stabbing, huh? Do these dagger things fly...?’ Noir wondered.
'May not want to try that, love. If it blows, it’ll take that blade with it.’ I replied.
'Good point.’ Noir said. I gathered the arrows from the previously fallen demon and loaded at least six in at one, firing them at the approaching one, which had another barrel in hand. A scorched Ted staggered out of the building’s door, just to see Badger’s fireball soar past and detonate the demon only ten feet away from him. He got flung back into the building as the demon exploded with a sound similar to thunder. We stared at where Ted had gotten blown back for a few seconds as he got back out again.
'Please stop blowing me up, alright?’ He said.
'Sorry.’ Badger replied. Ted kept moving, sword in hand. We followed.
Several people ran by as another demon stepped around a corner. This one was similar to the last, but it had no explosives and it expelled a purple gas.
'That thing must be causing those plague-like symptoms we saw! Shouldn’t effect us, but watch out!’ Badger shouted. I let loose another hail of arrows, all of these sticking right into the demon’s face. It laughed.
'Hahaha, you can’t destroy me.’ It said in a low voice.
'Run?’ Noir suggested.
'Run’. Ted agreed. We did, and towards the pond. The demon stomped after us, leaving a trail of sickness in its wake. Noir and I just discarded our disguises and flew.
'Pond’s in sight! Jump in, and keep swimming down! Go, go, go!’ Ted shouted. We leapt in, and the demon roared in anger. We kept swimming down, following the pond-bed. Suddenly, the pond-bed dropped away, and below us was a massive palace. It was based off of the local traditional ones, in size, design, and details. It was surrounded by a massive air bubble, and all of it seemed to be made of precious materials. The red rock that made most of it was ruby, the metal roof a shiny silver. Gold lined the walls, and what seemed to be diamond made up the tiles in the courtyard. I so wanted to exclaim something, but I was underwater. We fell through the air bubble and ten-feet down in to the middle of the courtyard. Noir and I were amazed.
'Right, you two have never seen an Eastern dragon’s palace...’ Ted said. 'Our dragons are the reason why precious metals and stones are so precious- they use almost all of them.’
'But... My god, this much...’ Noir said.
'Deal with not being able to take any with you- it’s all enchanted. Won’t leave the area.’ Badger said. He yanked hard on a solid gold torch stick- didn’t even move, although it looked like it did.
'Well, that sucks.’ I said. 'Come on, we’ve got a dragon to find.’
’Alright Noir, your turn.’ Teran said.
’Kids, stay awake. This is getting good.’ Noir said before continuing.
‘We only found signs of life when we entered the main part of the temple. A normal man- looked about 60, white hair, suit- greeted us gracefully. We were in a large room made of emerald, and a massive gold door was built into the wall behind him.
'Welcome to my lord’s estate.’ He said, bowing. A butler, I presumed.
'And your lord is...?’ I asked.
'Why, the dragon that you wish to find, good sirs. He isn’t excepting any visitors right now.’ The butler responded.
'We don’t care- he’s our target. He has to call off the demons in the village. Why is he even doing this?’ Ted asked.
'It was my master’s choice; not mine. I do not know his thinking.’ The butler replied. Badger shoved him out of the way.
'I don’t care, let me through!’ He shouted. He swung open the massive doors, and it opened to a large dining room. The long silver table was decorated with lavish food and a good two dozen chairs were at its sides. An old man sat at the far end, eating a chicken leg.
'Oh, so your here... Sit down.’ The man said. The butler looked at us, bowed and walked away. The four of us each took seats, confused.
'Please eat, the sea has food for us all.’ The old man continued.
'Wait... you’re the dragon, aren’t you?’ Teran said.
'That’s me, yes.’ The man replied. A snake-like tongue flickered in between his lips. We all drew our weapons and aimed them at him.
'Well, you bastard, why’d you do it? Why’d you command the demons to attack?’ Ted asked.
'Humanity is a scar on the Earth. They’ve destroyed the ancient forests, defiled our graves, and put our lives at risk. They should be destroyed- and that’s a good of place as any to start.’ The dragon-man said. His eyes looked reptilian suddenly.
'You’re mad!’ I shouted. 'Humanity may be shit half the time, but there’s strong individuals in the species, and they have just as much of a right to live here as the rest of us!’
'Hardly...’ The Eastern Dragon said, his body looking more muscular. Some claws grew. 'If you think that, you musssst die!’
Thoom!
A massive green Eastern Dragon flew past, knocking us all off our seats and sending food flying. The far doors slammed open as the nearly 100-foot long beast smashed through them. We got up, noticing the old man was gone- he was the dragon, as he said.
'Crap, let’s move!’ Teran shouted as we ran through the hole that was once the doors. We entered the hall, where the dragon was flying down, straight at us. Ted got slammed out of the way, Badger and Teran leapt out of the way, and I landed on its back, Tantos embedded in it. The dragon crashed through another doorway, throwing me off. But my Tantos were still with me. Teran helped me up.
'Be careful, hun.’ Teran said.
'Will do, love.’ I replied, kissing him on the cheek.
'Come on, lets keep moving!’ Ted shouted. We dashed out into the courtyard, and the dragon towered above the area, casting a shadow from the light above.
'YOU SHALL NOT STOP MY AMBITION!’ It roared, shaking the entire area. Its red cape-like growths fluttered, and flame flickered from its eyes. Teran let loose a volley of arrows, all getting stuck in the dragon’s thick scales. The Eastern Dragon roose up in the air, its whiskers just tapping the top of the air bubble. It charged down, smashing one of the solid ruby out-buildings. I just dodged it, but I left a long gash in its side with my two Tantos. Badger let loose a fireball, scorching its side. Ted changed to a large bear and jumped on top of the dragon, hanging on for dear life while scratching its scales off.
Teran let off another hail of arrows, these getting stuck in the dragon’s face. It roared as an eye exploded.
'Nice shooting!’ I shouted to Teran happily. We may have a shot at this.
'Thanks, hun!’ Teran shouted. He then got flung into the ground by a swich of the massive dragon’s tail.
'Love, you alright?!’ I shouted.
'I’m fine, just a bit shaken up.’ Teran replied. I watched Ted fall from the dragon and crash into a roof. A large hawk flew after the dragon.
Badger summoned up some bolts of lightning which hit the dragon, make it cry in pain. It slammed Badger through some of the thin gold walls with its face. I took flight and landed on its back, Tantos shining. I used them to climb up its back as it flew and spun through the air, trying to fling me off. I was getting close to the head.
Arrows soared into the thing’s chest, causing blood to spurt out and all over the buildings. I raised my Tanto in the air, and for a moment I saw the dragon’s eye reflected in its still-shiny blade. I swung the Tanto down, piercing its brain. It fell from the sky, carving a massive scar through the buildings. I tumbled off, loosing a Tanto in the process. I landed hard in the expensive rubble. Teran was by my side as I got up, one Tanto with me.
'Hun, you alright?’ He asked.
'Just shaken up, hehe.’ I joked. Teran cracked a smile.
'Badger’s dead- landed on a silver spiked fence- but Ted’s already heading out back to the village. The water’s coming in, let’s move!’ Teran shouted. We flew up, then passed through the air bubble. But I had grabbed a large chunk of diamond before we left- it actually was able to be taken from the palace! The rest of it started evaporating, but my chunk stayed intact. I was so amazed, I almost dropped it.
We resurfaced with gasping breaths, and I held the softball sized diamond up high.
'Holy crap, you grabbed something! Great work, love!’ Teran shouted. He hugged and kissed me, which I did back, while we floated in the bay. Ted watched us from a rock without our knowing, until he laughed.
'Oh, you two, you are so interesting!’ Ted laughed. We didn’t give a damn- we won, and got a prize from it as well. We were the victors.
'...The end. Wow, that was great.’ Noir commented.
'We did so well, hun.’ Teran said. The children were asleep- it was late. 'Let them sleep.’
Someone was clapping from the end of the room. Darcy.
'Great job, you two! Seriously, you should do that more- it was interesting to listen to.’ The avian said.
'Aw, thanks.’ The couple said at about the same time. 'Get some sleep, Darcy.’ Noir added.
'You too. Good night, you two amazing dragons.’ Darcy added, before walking away. It left Noir and Teran in the gymnasium, and some sleeping children in the chairs. They would wake up son, for sure.
'Let’s go find ourselves a room, hun.’ Teran suggested.
'Yes, lets.’ Noir agreed. They walked out, leaving a lasting memory with those children and with whoever listened to their story. One hopes they will return.

Enjoy, guys.
