Well...what had the potential to be one of my best originals ended up being a disaster =( At least, in my eyes, not so much everyone elses. Isn't it funny how that works??
To get to the point, I simply let the crunch time for the fair get the best of me and overworked it.
Its instances like this that I envy digital artists, they have that ever so convenient undo option or ability to freeze their project at a certain point and can easily go back and fix and tweak what needs to be done without having to start all over. Instead, I will have to start all over again =( No two burns are ever alike...I am not sure I will be able to fall in love with the second one as much as I had this first one, and it will have to wait until I can find another piece of wood that would suit it. This piece was just so perfect for it....another tragedy.
For all my laments, this was to be my colored entry in the county fair. I almost chose not to, and instead put in my masked man, but decided to hell with it. I made it for the fair, its going to be in the fair. To my great surprise.....not only did Forest Spirit take first place in the color category, but she took best in show. I didn't expect her to place let alone do that well, it was most certainly a shock! I can hardly hate her for that, but I still can't quite say I am proud of this, she just does not fit what I had in mind.

This is a wood burning, the color was added using watercolor pencils and white gel pen.
I think I have stated very clearly that I am unhappy with the turn out of this piece so I ask that you please be mindful of this should you choose to provide any critique. This one is touchy for me =P
