Yuiko has made a lot of cool gifts and I wanted to make her something nice. I have always been fascinated with the ocean and the use of water...I just wish something it was a lot easier to draw. ^^;
I drew Yuiko and Usagina together in the ocean because Namie and Yuiko have been friends for some time now and wanted to try something little different with two characters in an image. It did a little longer on this then I wanted but is was a lot of fun figuring out how to draw the ocean bed and to draw two characters a little more closer.
The ocean can be a relaxing place and not only the ocean but anywhere that has water flowing calming such as lagoons, streams, rivers and hot water springs and such. I always wanted practice more with water and so here it is, I hope that all of you like it and I hope to draw more soon.

it doesn't matter how nice the picture is or not Yuiko its the thought behind it that really counts. ^^

I think with your new character that you are going to have to practice a lot more with water and I am sure your going to be good at it.
Next time that I do a water picture and make sure that I draw a few little gold fishies swimming about. =w=

I really love the stark contrast between the two characters and how edgy and distinct your linework is. The blue outline also really sets the entire image off and makes it "pop!". And, as others have commented, lovely work with the water- from what I understand, it can be a tricky subject to capture correctly but you seem to have managed to do so splendidly!

I have always liked to share my work with all that wants to see it so it is my pleasure. ^^
I usually ad the outings to my linework because something time the background and the foreground colours collide and cause the eyes to drift away from the focus which is the characters. Water can be trick depending how you us it...the hardest is to draw water that is so faint that you can only tell when light hits it...so I hope you understand the difficulties.

Believe it or not, your little tip with the outlines is something I'm going to try with my own art. I don't do backgrounds often, but I definitely see what you mean about the outlines making the characters stand out! It's very good advice, and I look forward to using it the next time I start a coloring project!
