The head base was already constructed made from parts obtained from Dream Vision Creations and assembled by my commissioner.
This mask was purely fabricated by me, I did not install or put together any part of the base nor did I make them except for the ears.
It was a very good experience to work with a DVC product and focus mainly on sewing and pattern making.
I am very pleased with the end result and feel that my quality has definitely stepped up a couple of notches. In the pictures the neck cover may look baggy but it is actually going to be fitted better to my commissioner whom just happens to have larger head dimensions than my armature does.
This mask features
(What I have done, not my commissioner/DreamVisionCreations which did a wonderful job of putting the base together.)
- Drybrushed, hand sewn markings.
- Button Snap/Velcro fitted neck cover.
- Glossy finish to the eyes and nostrils.
- Collapsible ears. (For easier storage.)
- Stylized ear fluff. (inner ear and base of the ears.)
I had a lot of fun working on this character and hope he gets back home safe and sound by Monday.

Here is my questions as I am about to build my sergal...what fur did you use and where did you obtain it.
Also how hard was it to attach the fur to the resin mask?
And did you sculpt the lips as well as the tearducts and nostrils?
Sorry for all the questions, I am just curious how others have done it. I got to closly examine
Shineyfighter but his is not on a resin mask so it only helped a little.

Yeah. Dream vision made the sergal resin cast after shiney was made.
The fur I shipped to her. Got it from Distinctive Fabrics. 2in pile. Distinctive Fabrics can be quite a pain to deal with. Stuff getting lost in mail, stuff taking to long to get out. But there fur is among the softest that I know of. Makes shaving it a huge chore.
The fur is simply glued to the mask via hot glue.
The lips are sculpted from epoxy. Its exact name brand slips my mind. The nostrils and tear ducts are precast into the resin blank. All you have to do is cut it out using the heat and cut method.

I did not sculpt or prep the mask besides giving it a good cleaning.
The tear ducts and nostrils are all a part of the sculpt made by DVC and can be cut via using a dremel tool or cutting it with an exacto knife before it completely cures. Some individuals can also heat up the resin blank with a hair dryer or heat gun then cut it, but be careful with this method as it can warp the blank.
The fur used is referred to as DF or Distinctive Fabric fur, but the manufacturer distributes to other fur websites such as syfabrics.com or fabric.com.
I highly advise not doing business with Distinctive as they have had some crude business practices/problems such as harassing customers, publicly flaming their clients on social media and purposefully sending out the wrong types of fabrics or very poor quality fabrics. (the end of the bolt as an example which renders a good 5 to 6 inches completely useless.)
Once the fur fabric pattern is all sewn together it is easily attached with some hot glue.
You can find out much more information and helpful tutorials on the fursuit.livejournal.com account. The community is very helpful and supportive, I suggest you browse the entries and memories section as it is chalk full of information.
I hope this helps!
