And to finish Volume 1 of the Rose 40 Studies, we have Etude number 20 in G Major. This one is pretty fun, with all the different characters in short little sections throughout. This one is sometimes on high school all-state auditions because of the tough ornaments on 16th-notes and the very specific articulations and rhythms in some measures.

Often this is played very metronomically, but it's titled "Polonaise," a dance in which the music stretches the downbeat of (almost) every measure, then rushes to catch up. I decided to experiment with that, since I've always played it very strictly in the past. So that's why you'll hear a pushing and pulling of the rhythm so often here.

About the etude project:

I've been challenging myself to practice a different etude every day and prepare it to the best of my ability in one day. This has been very helpful, but I wanted to add an additional element of pressure/nervousness. So I started recording them to post here.

It's not a real performance- I usually AM playing with a metronome, and I usually record these in a couple of takes and put them together later. I'll try to do them in a single take when possible, but usually I'll break them up.
