I figured it was about time to post a quick update on the Trueno project!
Huge props as always to Jolly Jackal for his epic help on this project!!!
Below is whats gone on since my last 86 photo post.
Upgraded suspension to CXRacing coilover and rear suspension system
Upgraded Radiator to CX Racing aluminum rad with dual 10in BLOX E-fans
Upgraded exhaust abortion to custom 2.25in catback with magnaflow muffler
Upgraded rear bumper to JDM Kouki bumper
Car rides and sounds SOO Much better now and I can actually drive around without overheating which is a nice plus =P
Next up is manual steering rack conversion, front sway bar upgrade, rear lateral links, 4 links, suspension bushing refresh and an upgraded oil cooler.
For any one thinking of buying an AE86, they are a deep money pit but certainly pay it back in fun factor!

Great call on the Elise. Those are awesome cars. I'v never driven in one but I know they out-handle the MR-2 Spyder I used to own and that's quite impressive! Also the Elise is new enough to not need pain in the ass work like bushings or rubber everything replacement under the hood like the 86 XD
*nods* i have an AE101, its a 95 and also a money pit. I don't do anything other then keep it as a daily. The Elise will be an incredible upgrade, the ride height in them is pure sex. Going to be awesome for going to anime cons next year in. Probably going to try and get it in March. Same company also has a 95 Esprit, which im considering but its 7k more. I am either going to lease or finance it.
I've been watching Stage 4 on Netflix :3
and been playing Arcade Stage 7 at this new import arcade that opened up https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BUF8Bnj.....Zozz.jpg:large ^^

I've been lucky enough to drive my friend's FRS a few times. They are very similar to the AE86 in that they handle great but lack power. I personally think Toyota got the mix just right with the FRS. they may not be very powerful but the light well balanced chassis and small tires make a majority of what the car has to offer very accessibly at speeds that are not completely insane. It's just a fun car to drive!
Thanks! ^_^ It has come a long way. when I bought it the car was riddled with mismatched dented body panels, could barely start and the tire/ rim fitment on the front was so bad the tire would jam itself to the inner fender on partial lock. You don't even want to think about how scary it was driving XD . I think it's been about a solid year of work at this point and omg what a difference.
Check out Tempo epoxy propeller paint for the trim. It dries to a matte finish, and if you prep properly lasts nearly forever. Most importantly, it's flexible so won't chip. Silly trim pieces, the chrome version is cheaper than blackened because they just top-coat the chrome.
Thanks for the recommendation. This looks like it will do the trick perfectly. I've seen people use plasti-dip for the trim. I was contemplating using that but the longevity had me a bit concerned. ^_^ I think I may pick some of this Tempo paint and start prepping the trim pieces this week.
