Dr. James Redmond was known for a lot of things. He was known as one of the youngest, brightest stars in his field, to begin with. Even in his young adulthood, he was already making archaeological discoveries that advanced the knowledge of the field by leaps and bounds. James was also known for his kind, compassionate heart. Even though he was constantly busy with one thing or another, he would always set that work aside to be a listening ear for those in need. Of all of his qualities, his empathy made him more respected than even his brilliance. But it was ALL of these factors that lead him to being the youngest colonist to Z-375.

During this time of great expansion, more regions of the newly-colonized world were popping up every day, and though the environment was completely habitable by humans, great care was taken to examine the flora and fauna even now, years after settling. They needed the brightest minds available for this task, and Dr. Redmond was an easy choice for the job.

What Dr. Redmond didn't know, however, was that someone ELSE had chosen him for those qualities, as well.
