While waiting for confirmation on a sketch for a commission, I decided to try something I've had in mind for a while. I've had this weird urge to try and learn how to draw quads lately. Something I usually don't do at all. But they can be kinda cool and lately I've kinda had an urge to learn, so I figured, what the hell, I'd give it a go.
Now, while you're looking at this, keep in mind that I practically never draw quads. xD So, I know it looks funny and not right, but for really being one of my first, I don't think it's too bad.
I like the mane 83 It's like his hair, but it goes all the way down his back... I dunno, that just seems awesome. xD
Anyway. Enjoy my quick crappy quady Ruadri sketch.

=3 you've done well with anatomy there, joints seem to be in the right places.
If you want a hint about the front legs, I suggest making them come straight down from the shoulder, instead of slanting forward. With most quads like this, most of the weight is carried by the forelegs. Normaly, the leg that holds the weight is the one straight and directly below/in line with the body.
this picture is a good example: http://www.gan.ca/images/hooks/dog.bmp
I'd also flesh out the top of his back legs too. That's where most of the muscle is. The way you have him drawn makes him look skinny. <3 which is great if that's what you're going for.

xD; well, it isn't much help when people just say 'fix the front legs' is it? Much more helpful to say how you should fix them, or specifically just what is wrong with them.
Besides... if I've had the same problem in my drawings and figured out how to make it look/work better, why not share?
;3 I wish someone would come along and do the same for me sometimes.

Maybe you're just too good for critique? 83
Hahah, seriously though, if you wanted, I could try and start putting some crituque into the comments I give you. I certainly don't mind and I used to do it all the time (Back when I was at dA I used to get as many comments on my comments as I did on my pictures, people loved them xD), I just sorta don't around FA because thoughtful comments don't seem to be what people do around here xD And there's more drama so I try to err on the side of caution and stick to the positive.
So yeah, if you like I certainly wouldn't mind putting a bit of depth into the comments for you... that is, of course, assuming I find anything wrong with them to point out, as I often don't xD

xD thoughtful comments are always appreciated. Suggestions on how to make things better are always good. Obviously, there are times when there are little mistakes, things that just can't really be helped, and those things don't really need to be commented on, since I probably already noticed them.
But hey, if you know how to do something well and you can suggest a way to make something look better, I would love to hear about it.

Yeah, that's usually how I function. There will -always- be little things that can be improved upon, but usually the only answer to those is "Keep on practicin'". But if I see anything drastic, like you did with my fucked-up-footpaws, I'll try and help xD Though you're pretty good so I dunno how often I'll get a chance.
Ah well, I'll figure something out, I guess. *laughs*
