…The Lespun Hospital was a fair distance away from the camp. Synge took some time off and drove to the hospital. He had a syringe with the antidote in his pocket. Synge left the poison with Zet, who would give it to the higher ups along with a sample of the antidote to do research. Walking into room 104, he thought of all the things he had gone through just to restore what he himself had lost. He entered to find Kristen just as he had last seen her. Not moving except for her chest which just slowly rose and fell. Synge crossed over to her and pulled out the syringe. He looked at it for a moment and then took Kristen’s arm and injected her with the antidote…
**********
…Blight said the antidote usually worked in a week. Synge figured that since Kristen was a healer, the antidote would probably work faster. He wanted to be awake when Kristen woke up so he pulled up one of the chairs next to the head of her bed. He had his mind fixed on staying awake. Te first day wasn’t bad. Synge turned on the visual monitor and checked the news for awhile. When that was boring, he practiced some new techniques with electricity and water. By the end of the second day, he could produce small images in the water. The third day, Synge was dead tired. He had to shock himself multiple times to stay awake throughout the whole day. The beginning of the fourth day was hell for Synge. I…need…pain was all Synge thought of that could keep him awake. He took the syringe and right before he stabbed it right through his hand, he noticed some movement. Synge placed the syringe back and whispered “Kristen?” Her eyes fluttered open and she said “hey Synge.” In that moment, Synge wrapped his arms around her and let loose his tears…

…Kristen fully recovered in three days. The first day, Synge slept. When he woke up, he called priests to marry him and Kristen ASAP. He finally found one that could marry them in three days. He called Zet. “Do you know what time it is?” said Zet yawning. “Listen,” said Synge “can you tell Raj and Timber to get ready for a wedding?” “WHAT?” shouted Zet. Synge heard Zet jump up and hit his head on something. “FUCK. Owwww, that hurt” said Zet. Synge chuckled and said “I want you to be my best man at mine and Kristen’s wedding.” Zet was startled “s-uh…bu-bu…uh, ahem. Sure. So you’re getting married to Kristen. That is a little quick but I figured it would happen. OK I’ll tell them.” “Thanks” said Synge and hung up. He then went out and bought a ring. Then he gone back to the hotel and slept. Early’ the second day, he went to visit Kristen. When he opened the door, Kristen was already awake. “Hello” she said, “what’s up?” Synge walked over to her bed and she sat up. “Kristen” said Synge, getting on one knee. “Do you remember what I said at the arena?” She hugged him saying, “that you would met me later.” He looked at her and said “Kristen.” Kristen looked at him as he pulled out the ring, “will you marry me?” Kristen trembled, tears rolling down her face. “I will…”

…The wedding was a small, but festive one. Zet, Raj, and Timber were there. So were Kristen’s closest friends and her parents. After the wedding, Synge and Kristen went partying with their friends. After a couple of hours, and a few drinks, Kristen drove Synge home…

…Synge felt the morning rays of light shine upon him as he awoke. “Morning” said Kristen, cuddling up next to Synge, the warmth of her body a comfort to him. “Morning” he replied, pulling her close and giving her a kiss. “When do you have to leave?” asked Kristen, a sad tone in her voice. “Tomorrow” Synge said, more to himself than to her. “Well,” said Kristen, “let us continue your training as a good-bye gift” running to get a lighter. “A good-bye gift to whom?” asked Synge, “to you or to me?” Synge sat up and removed the blankets, ignoring the cool draft now chilling his skin. Kristen came over and flicked the lighter on. “Ready?” she asked, molding the flame to grow in her hand. “Ready” said Synge, offering his hand to the flame…
**********
…“I got it!!!” Synge exclaimed, holding the flame in his hand. “Finally” Kristen said, extinguishing the flame in her hand. “I was getting tired of healing your burning flesh.” She crawled back under the blankets and said “let’s rest. We both need it.” Synge wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight against him…
**********
…It was days after Synge returned to camp that he heard from Kristen again, and it was in the least expected way. “You what?” Synge asked, as he hugged Kristen. “I joined” she said excitedly, “as a medic of your squadron.” Synge released her and looked at her, asking “is this really what you want to do?” She stared into his eyes and said “it is the best way for us to be together so yes, it is what I want.” Synge hugged her tight, hugged her because he loved her, hugging the flame that was finally restored…
