So, this right here, is a concept piece for the first few shots in Rab's story.
He lives near a strange, deep forest that grows sideways, and doesn't appear to have a forest floor, only a void of darkness. In this forest only a few edible fruits grow, and they're very hard to find in the labyrinthian knots of tree trunks.
This was a nice little atmospheric perspective practice piece. I really want to make more concept pieces like this for the story in the future, so hopefully this is a decent first step!

This is a *great* picture and a great intro to the story. This is the sort of piece which sells a comic, if that's what you go for
'Tis quite atmospheric, so mission accomplished! I love how the sunlight streams in so realistically from up above. Your design for the intertwined branches is unique, and of course desperate little Rab looks as cute as desperation allows I can practically hear him straining and panting through his open mouth.
I'd love to see more of this story, if you go for it.

Hooollyy crap your backgrounds astound me!!
just the level of depth and the feeling of sheer mass of the place, you're really great at depicting that!
I particularly like the layering of tree silhouette's in the background, and how you've built up to middleground and foreground (i always forget to do these things teachmeyourwaays)
also i like the sense of desperation. like that need to the point of such endangerment.
its powerful man.

oh my god awesome doesnt even begin to describe you :D!!!!!
that really means a lot, thank you so much! I mostly utilized atmospheric/air perspective tricks, some of the most crucial things I've ever learned as an artist, when doing layout/backgrounds.
Im so glad all my practice with backgrounds is paying off!!!
