Blank used: deer antler
Pen kit used: black chrome patriot
Time: 4 hours
Unsurprisingly, antler is a very dense material, so it's a bit slower going than, say, wood. Fortunately, it's also very easy to work with. Other than having to be careful at the start due to all the jagged bits naturally present in antlers, I was able to go through this without any major problems.
Also, I'm looking to sell this pen/start taking commissions for pens, so if you're interested, just shoot me off a note.

This is really cool! How large was the antler that you used (before shaping) in comparison to the pen?

OP
The length stayed about the same, since this pen kit is just shorter than the antler blank was to start out (about 2 3/4 inches). Width-wise, it's hard to say for sure, since the material is bumpy and has bits sticking out farther than the rest, but it started out about 1.5 inches and was shaved down to .51" on the non-writing end, and .45" on the writing end.
