This little boy's looking for his mate, staying still and glowing nice an' pretty until a lovely lady (or another boy, if his flock is on the verge of overpopulation) comes by and decides green and orange are the perfect romantic colors she's been looking for. If he doesn't find his mate tonight, he'll try again tomorrow, and the next day, and so on until he does. At least mating for life means that after he finds it he won't have to look anymore.

L'il buggers only glow for their mates, when looking for them and then when they're actually mating.
