Finally finished work on my latest character model.
Featuring an all new animation skeleton, Morph Assisted movement , basic facial expressions and a shoulder that works!
An animated spin-around demo is available at the link below.

For the texturing, did you use any ZBrush or is that just a procedural or somesuch?
Looks pretty nice. The stomach and lower torso has an odd composition from the side, seems a little flat. The chest as well.
The curve of muscle/bone towards the toes seems rather flat as well. Maybe rounding them off will make it appear realistic.
The head looks great though! What program did you use for it?

very insightful comment.
The texture was done using maya's layed texture function, basically, consisting of a series of alphamapped procedural images.
The torso is abit weird looking but as you can see in th youtube video, it's because it's being flexed, the creature's pose currently is so that it's back is arched. (but due to the arm in the way, you can't see it)
And the feet. well. they still need abit of work... trying to refine their appearence as I type.
As you'd expect. I did all this on maya.

Excellent. I also use Maya, although I am more of a vehicular modeler. We'll have to compare work and notes later on.
All I suggest for the feet is pushing up the verts and maybe using some sculpt geometry to give them a nice, curved look. I don't know if there's much scaled reference for it.
The layered textures always gave me a problem. But you seem to have used it fairly efficiently.
I see with the video now. At least you aren't doing the t-pose. Do you have a rig set up on him yet? Should pose him in an interesting way.

well since you're experienced with maya.
I should mention that after rigging a model that is bound using soft binding, scuplting it tends to cause weird things to happen to the mesh, sometimes perminantly damaging the rigging.
I suppose rescaling the bones in the feet so they'd be abit thicker might help.
And yes, I already have the rigging 90% complete, along with morphs and driven values.
Oh and speaking of maya. I make a couple of vehicles now and again too. you aught to look through my gallery.

I forgot the effects that adjusting geometry had on the mesh once the rig's in place. But I'm not very familiar with the bone system you're using, so I'll say you know what you're doing. Scaling though, hmm.
As for your gallery, you have some remarkable stuff in there. I actually envy your texturing ability. Perhaps some time you can show me what techniques you use. Have you been employed in the 3D industry at all? Some thinks like your Su-37 are pieces that would draw attention.

well to tell you the truth, I've no formal training at all. It's the result of about 3 years of experimenting and stiving to make a better model.
As for my texturing processes. Really it's very rudamentry to what some people do, hardly ever skin anything.
Most of the time I either use high resolution textures of very basic things ie: steel, aluminium or wood which I can get off google, and make elaborate meshes that combine them so it looks like it's a complex skin.
Other times (like for characters) I use maya's 'paint texture' tool. which is like painting warhammer figurines.

Aaah, paint texture. You know that's good for helping one set up "UVing" for NURBS meshes? But... nevertheless it's a pain in the butt.
Do you know any good free sites that have high-resolution images? I haven't really explored around too much.
Regardless, the three years have paid off nicely.
