So, got to know about that contest when I saw a new submission in my watchlist by Hahul that is too an entry to that contest. I thought I should give it a try, so this is my first version of an digimon that I created. I neither have a name for it nor did I have finished a final desing, though the basic appearance that you can see in this submission is final. As one criteria is if it could be a digimon (from the appearance) I at least added digimonish characteristics to the foot and the mouth. For the rest I doubt someone will think about a digimon. This rather looks like a champion digimon than a rookie digimon although I planned this to be a rookie level digimon. Doubts are because of the close anthropomorphic anatomy, although many digimons have that, but as said rather as a characteristic for the champion level and above. I consider adding some armor parts, a huge bandanna (presumably with a red color) and maybe other clothes. So, this is definetely not yet finished. The rookie level presumably will have characteristics like Veemon and similar. The ultra level will definetly will look more like a dangerous beast, big and strong. Also, a background is missing.

Maybe I should use cell-shading rather than a detailed texturing and shading made with the dodge/burn tool in Photoshop. Maybe this color will be changed too. What do you think? Cell shading or that kind of shading?

At last, I am not sure whether I create another Digimon or submit this one when finished as entry.

So, I deeply beg for some advice how to make it look more like a digimon :D I hope you guys can help me out a bit.
