This was a raffle prize from last year. I donated a small sculpture to the non-profit Diabetic Cats in Need. The winner wanted a slightly toony/realistic sculpture of their late dog, Rusty.
The group DCIN help place diabetic cats in homes when their owners are no longer able to care for them, or they try to rescue diabetic cats from shelters and get them into a foster home where they can get the care they need. They also help support cats in their original home, by providing glucose meters, insulin when available and sometimes money to help pay for emergency care when the owners are unable to cover the costs. They are a wonderful group and those who have known me for a while should remember that I had a diabetic cat for many years. My Toddy passed away in the summer of 2011 and I miss him a lot.
If you have a diabetic cat and need help, please contact this group OR if you would like to donate to a great cause, they would gladly accept donations.
