Seriously, black cats on dark furniture do not a happy photographer make. Anyhoo, backstory time!
I got Milo ("Mee-low") a couple days ago, under the name "Nemo," from the Wisconsin Humane Society. On the website he was listed as 3 1/2 years old, but his birth date is in November, so he is actually closer to 4.
I wasn't actually planning on getting a cat yet, I was going to wait until mid-October or later, but I was on the website and he was there... His face was just so cute that I had to read his profile, and it turned out he was the exact cat I was looking for.
So I ran and borrowed my grandma's car and my BF and I went to meet this lovely cat, although I kept insisting that I probably wasn't going to get him, and that I was just going to meet him...
We had to wait over an hour to meet with an adoption counselor, but when we did and she brought in my golden-eyed boy... I knew I was going home with this cat. He was so friendly and trusting... so she gave us his story.
He was brought to the Humane Society as a kitten, since the owner's cats had had unplanned kittens and they couldn't care for them. It wasn't too long then before he was adopted. This piece of his history is unknown, since he was with a family, but he was not with them very long. When they were evicted they left him behind and he was taken by MADACC, animal control. They held him for a while and when his first adopters never came to claim him he was returned to the Humane Society and once again listed for adoption... but no one wants older cats, especially black ones.
Until I got him :3
I'll be honest, I've never been a cat fan, but this boy had me at "meow" and as long as he lives I will never make him go back to shelter life.
Extra note: Neither picture shows it, but there is actually a patch on his chest of white furs mixed among the black, so I call him my "secret tuxedo" cat ;)
