Hello! This is Rocket Cat, not to be confused with Roxikat!
She is a strange mutant telekinetic housecat sidekick who can communicate through her translator collar to bring you a special message!
Did you ever play the City of Heroes MMO and miss being able to jump, fly, and superspeed through a city, fighting crime with your own completely custom character? Did you ever play an anthro character in an MMO and felt that you really wished was designed with actual anthro fans in mind? ME TOO!
I'm here to tell you about a special Kickstarter for Missing Worlds Media, who is working to build a spiritual successor to City of Heroes. It's happening right now featuring some of my 2D concept artwork, and will continue to feature my work as I've been working for them since February!
If this sounds interesting come check us out at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects.....city-of-titans this month to monitor our progress!
UPDATE 10/7/13: WE ARE FUNDED with 27 days remaining!!! WOOOOOOO!

Pft, It's going to go to 100% and beyond very fast, there are a lot of hurt, wounded people after how badly COX was fucked over. Including myself and a lot of others. This will get funded and become a big thing, I'm fully believing of that.
If you guys need voice acting, I'm more than happy to help out. I've got professional equipment, and I've already been in one game already. (Not to mention a cavalcade of other stuff)

I wrote an article for geek exchange about them months ago. http://www.geekexchange.com/coh-ris.....ect-78653.html
Roxicat, i hate to be "That guy" But given how they've broken down their costs and such, there's absolutely no way this game is getting made for $180,000.
$70k in fees.
$70k to Epic Games for the Unreal Engine license.
What about hardware? They need a datacenter to put the hardware in. They wouldn't buy one, but renting space in one is expensive. AC and power is expensive at co-location facilities. They need a big fat pipe out to the internet, that's expensive.
Absolute bare minimum they need a login server, database server for user info, database server for world info, transaction server. That right there could easily swallow up the whole budget. With one server of each type. Not to mention the database software costs and IT support staff. Servers don't run on magical pixie dust.
Lets look at what other MMOs cost to make.
World of Warcraft cost $63 million
http://digitalbattle.com/2006/06/15.....st-63-million/
Marvel Heroes + Marvel Super Hero Squad Online. $80 million between the two. Gazillion Entertainment got that in venture capital for the two games.

Star Wars TOR cost over $100 million to make
If the Kickstarter brings in millions, i can maybe see this happening, but not for a paltry $320k. Single player game? Sure. But not an MMO where all of the cost is up front due to infrastructure.

ElRabin, this Kickstarter is not to 100% fully fund the game. This would allow our volunteer community effort to continue building and developing. There isn't even a consideration to be as big as WOW. Even without the funding, we are still building. We are hitting dead ends and need to stop using free programs. I will still be unpaid.
I wish the team the best of luck.
I just find it a really difficult stretch to see how the game can be gotten off the ground without that backend infrastructure in place already.
Even if the art assets, missions, power trees, gui and all that good stuff are implemented. How do you know that you can handle thousands or tens of thousands of players? How resilient is your database system? How many simultaneous logins can the authentication servers handle? Those questions are impossible to answer unless you have spent hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars on server hardware and software to build your server farm.

We? Are you a part of Missing Worlds Media?
I like all of the names. Missing Worlds, Project Phoenix, it's good stuff. I miss CoX too. The box is pretty close to the top of my tower of boxes and every time I think about trying it again I remember it's gone. So sad.
I hope City of Titans works out! I'd donate but I can't right now, and probably won't be able to for months. :/

I'm interested, but unsure about the project. Wondering what it will bring in that Champions Online hasn't done already.
One thing I noticed. the perks mention a Secret Identity Builder. how will secret identities play out in-game? (asking here as I will be unable to attend the livestream)

I know this is a little out of the blue. For one thing, this looks fantastic, and if I have more money around soon I'll donate what I can!
Second, I was wondering. Will there be a broader range of body types and body shapes? Usually in MMOs, or games in general, you have the options of how thin or how buff you want to be. It would be really, really cool to be able to bring in heftier shapes, i.e. fat shapes, as well as curvy shapes - for males and females.
I realize how unusual that is (for the audience of the game as a whole), and I don't know how much demand there would be for that beyond a small group of weird folk like me. Still, i thought I'd go ahead and ask.

I understand! In a way, I can see how fatness or curviness could get really tricky, as it deviates from "conventional" anatomy and involves aspects of the body that don't follow the skeleton as much as muscles do.
It's encouraging to here that you and some of the staff have already thought of that and want to implement it! Having more anthro options, as you mentioned the game is going for, already sounds like a huge step for me, and even if the game didn't have THAT, well, I'm not about to whine about being able to play a superhero in a badass game. :B
