hello everybody!
as requested by someone over on tumblr, i made a eye tutorial for y’all!
it will involve lot’s o’ reading down here, but don’t be scared - nothing fancy, friends!
let’s start with the lineart:
1 - obvious. i draw my eye form in two lines. the first on is either round or a little bit edgy, depending on what character i draw.
2 - add another line of your likings! i personally prefer a closed lineart to work with my eyes, but other just draw the top. up do you!
3 - first step for the inner eye.
4 - 2 more round lines to be my pupil.
5 - filled in with black
6 - optional : eyelines & lashes.
pretty simple. now on to coloring!
1 - choose your main eye color and fill it in.
2 - i never use pure white for the white around the eye. sometimes i even give it a slight tint of the eye color. it’s just my personal taste! also, i filles in the white in the middle line. that’s just the way i draw eyes and can be left out if wanted.
3 - i choose a very dark shading color to create the line where my shading will be. i choose my shades and highlights per hand when i color eyes. there are many tips on what colors to pick.
( tip :i personally usually go more into violet-ish colors when shading blue eyes, more into blue-ish when shading green eyes, more into violet-ish when pink, more orange when the eyes areyellow, and also a bit more pink-ish when shading red eyes. so i never use the multiply mode. i learned that some time ago and i think it suit eyes better if you choose by hand! {i you really like abstractness, you can also choose some extrem wild colors. ex. shade green eyes with some bright red. that can make them even more awesome if you’re into that!} )
4 - here i choose my second shading color, which is a bit lighter and fill it on. sometimes i thinner the lines as they go more towards the pupil.
5 - highlights! here i took are light green.
6 - finishing touches! i create two layer above my lineart and draw some things. circles, stars, hearts - whatever i want to draw at the moment. after that, i select the layer beneath the one i drew on, and draw an outline. note that i usually choose hightlight-colors that stand really out compared to the eye color. i like them to be flashy!
also, i give the lineart a very slight blue-ish tint.
