If only Scooby-Doo was bigger. He'd never fear any of those phony ghouls ever again.
Yeah. That's right. I drew Scooby.
I've always liked Scooby. I can't deny that when I used to watch Scooby-Doo as a kid, my mind might have wandered to thoughts of his big paws on more than one occasion. But I had never really ever given serious thought to drawing him until a recent conversation about 'guilty pleasure characters' on our forums over at Eccentricities in which Scooby-Doo's name came up. Admitting therein that I was quite keen on the character, I suddenly found myself curious about whether I could draw Scooby - and receiving strong encouragement from certain folks to try it.
(Remember that,
chaoscomm ? )
Of course, with a mind like mine, it doesn't take long for me to come up with a bunch of mischievous ideas for any character. And once I had with Scoob, I knew I needed to give it a try, especially because it seems the fandom is suffering from a severe deficit of giant heavy thumping Scooby feets.
As ever with a character I've never drawn before, I started by spending several days doing lots of training sketches (some of which I will probably end up adding to a future Character Training Compilation in my Scraps) in order to familiarise myself with the character and the Hanna-Barbera style. Then I started working on the actual picture on Thursday.
I have to say, I had great fun doing this piece. Considering I only started drawing it on Thursday, it was a refreshingly quick and smooth process - I'd already finished the linework and coloured the scan by Friday morning, then got all the shading done today. Some of the proportions are not quite right (especially those back legs), the background is a classic lazy gradient copout, and the style isn't 100% faithful to the original. But I genuinely like it. It's one of those relatively few pieces of mine that actually makes me smile when I look at it. Not least for the amusingly cute-looking ghost about to be stomped.
And before you ask, yes, I will be drawing more of Scooby in future. No question. I enjoyed doing this and already have several other ideas I know I'd like to try at some point.
I know it's been a relatively quiet year from me on the art front, though things might be picking up. If I keep my head down, I might actually have another picture finished within the next couple of days. So keep your eyes peeled.

Very nice change of pace for Scooby Doo, no longer being scared! I mean suuuure you can solve the case and try to find out who the culprit is buuut a good stomping could make the culprits change their mind fast. Oh well! Now where did I leave the scooby snacks!
There was one episode in the original 60's/70's era when they were in Antarctica, and Scooby had just fallen into one of the 50-foot snow monster's paw prints.
He freaked out and blew by the rest of the gang, and when they asked what happened, Scoob's held his paw out, somehow grew it to be HYOOGE, and boofed it down in the snow to show he had just seen a giant pawprint.
From that point on, I CRAVED to see a Macro Scooby. XD
Here's a link to that episode if you're curious! ^^

Heh - absolutely no explanation given as to how he made his paw grow big enough to make that print! That's cartoons for you!
Thanks very much! (And boy, thank goodness we moved on from the days of laughter track on cartoons - I really struggle to watch old Hanna-Barbera shows for that reason!)

Heehee, that's my FAVE part about them too!
Stomping all over physics one way or another. Cartoons kinda helped make me who I am today in that regard. c:
You're always welcome and no probs! =n_n= I kinda like the cheesiness of it though. It's got that extra stench of nostalgia. c: *chirpywags* <3

I guess that mega-growth "Special Scooby Snack" worked,
giving a new power-up to Scooby, who dares to do things
Clifford the Big Red Dog never dared, like using those mega paws for stomping!
Most of Pluto's poses show his paw-pads, but who gets to enjoy
a paw-smoosh other than Mickey Mouse?
