I thought I'd draw up this character idea of a dwarf fighter/wizard, and the big obelisk is sort of vaguely based on some art installations at a nearby shopping center. The art installations are very pretty and don't have a hand motif, of course, and as far as I know the shopping center isn't owned by a shadowy cult of Vecna.

What I think this is - I haven't written it up yet - is one of the 1st edition enchanted landmarks things, with a healthy dose of Labyrinth thrown in. Just a big column with terracotta hands and an enchanted crystal "eye." You ask the thing questions about stuff within the dungeon and it gestures and points to where it is.
