A lot of covers tend to use that wrap-around effect, though I would say pulling a bit of the picture into the pine as well would tie it all together nicely. As it stands it's a wonderful piece of work. In fact I would hazard to say it's better than a lot of covers I've seen in the past. If that scene occurs in the book then even better, I love it when i can read a chapter then look at the book cover and know that it's exactly as it was envisioned.

Well even so. The piece is very nice and I would pick it up for an excerpt read at the book store just by looking at it. They SAY don't judge a book by it's cover, but it's the cover that draws you in when it's not an established name in the industry.

Yea that's true. when I used to go to borders I'd look at covers first if I didn't know what to get. Then read the back. and then few pages.

I could EASILY envision this on a shelf of a bookstore.

Its detailed, to the point and not CLOUDED with colors/characters/creatures (lots of such covers are appearing all over the sci-fi section, omg, too much to SEE you can't even make out the title!).

I love it! Heck, might have to commission you one day in the far future to do my own cover!
This looks like a true to life professional book on the shelves! Good job!

I've seen lots of books where the picture also covers the spine. I think leaving it dark as you have it, works. It stands out and makes the book title easier to find if placed on the shelf.
