At about this time, I started trying to record the pieces without a metronome for the most part. I didn't want to rely on an outside source for keeping up the tempo.
Now for Etude number 23 in B-flat Major. This one is commonly on All-State auditions; I remember having to learn it in high school. Some of the leaps can be tough near the end, and the rapid key-changes make for awkward scales and arpeggios. It doesn't really say so in the music, but the articulation should be light, to keep it flowing- especially at faster tempos.

About the etude project:
I've been challenging myself to practice a different etude every day and prepare it to the best of my ability in one day. This has been very helpful, but I wanted to add an additional element of pressure/nervousness. So I started recording them to post here.
It's not a real performance- I usually record these in a couple of takes and put them together later. I'll try to do them in a single take when possible, but usually I'll break them up.
