Journey Cake Round Dance - American Indian Drum Circle
Another recording from the drum circle I am in. This is a local song used for round dances, with the round dance rhythm. It is a little rough around the edges, it's from rehearsal run and the words are sung from memory.
Words:
Journey cakes and cranberries makes a meal for me.
A New England Indian is what I'm meant to be.
Dancing in the circle; couples hand in hand;
Algonquin families dancing on the sacred land.
Pokanokets, Narragansetts, all Algonquin bands;
These are the children that hold Creator's hands.
All tribes are welcome in this special place.
Hold up your heads so Creator can see your face.
