Dunno why I didn't post this ages ago, as I finished it ages ago. This is a baseball card I did of my FLB character, Boris Ritter. He's a starting pitcher for the Quad City River Rats now, but when this card was made, he played for the Key West Conchs. He wears his tail in a folded ponytail, and his mane is braided, except for his forelock. Boris is a Dulmen Pony from Munster, Germany and is currently in his 6th season playing pro in the FLB.
Name: Boris Ritter
Age: 28
Species: Dulmen Pony
Throws: Left
Gender: Male
Height/Weight: 5'5"/200lbs
Birthplace: Munster, Westphalia, Germany
Seasons Played: 5
Preferred Position: Starter Pitcher
Backstory: Boris came to America with his family when he was 16 from Munster, Germany, seeking freedom and new lives there. Being a new kid in school, and foreign to boot, Boris had a tough time in high school; he was somewhat behind the other kids of his age due to the systems in Germany and he was very-much outcasted. His father started to encourage him to try out for some of the highschool athletic teams, but with his small stature and heavier build he wasn't highly sought after nor readily accepted. Football, soccer, basketball...all were failures. And then he tried baseball. He couldn't really bat all that well, but when handed a ball and asked to throw a pitch, he wound up and did as he was told. The pitch was at the right level, but zipped past the batter and into the glove behind. Surprised, the coach asked him to throw again, and again, before deciding to accept him to the team.
So Boris played ball all through high school and was voted MVP in his second, third, and fourth years playing for the team; he didn't quite manage it his first year playing but he was still learning the game. It wasn't played much in Germany so he knew very little about it when he first came over. Due to his eagerness to learn the sport and how quickly he became good at it (he led his high school team to two championships and one play-off game), he received a baseball scholarship for college, and so continued with the game he'd come to love.
In college, he ended up placed as a relief pitcher, and he wasn't terribly pleased about the decision, but he stuck it through and fought harder to prove that he was starter material. By his third year, he'd managed that, becoming the starting pitcher for his college team and leading them to their first championship in five years. As graduation drew near for him, his coach started to suggest the idea of trying out for the major leagues. Boris was unsure about this at first, especially because it'd likely take him away from his family and friends, but with some more convincing he went and tried out.
None of the teams wanted to sign him at first, and he actually didn't get drafted the first year he tried out. He ended up working a job at a training gym instead until the next draft rolled around, and he decided to try it again. This time, the Conchs had decided to give him a chance, and so he signed to them for his rookie year. He started on relief, but after the starter suffered a shoulder injury, he was forced into the starting lineup and had to prove himself in front of thousands of fans. He struggled at first, but soon found his niche and started getting the strike outs, bringing in more fans and proving that he was worth taking the chance.
Boris has been with the Conchs ever since, and now that the team is disbanding he's quite upset with the prospect of moving, but has put himself into the 2013 draft so he can keep playing the game he loves.
