Jazzfox asked for the "patient" slot from my Pirate Special and she also asked Chazori to write a short story for her!
Hell had literally boarded the ship and its fury was endless.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Cap'n Bou and her crew was busy repelling the enemy crew that had dared to attempt a boarding on their ship. A quick twist of the chocobo's head caught Chazori dueling a uniformed Naval ensign. Wolfshot, the Shy Gunner, was reloading his blunderbuss and and delivering shots in quick succession, the shots whizzing by the Cap'n to strike an unseen target.
Suddenly, movement came from behind her and Bou caught the glint of a blade slicing at her head. She closed her eyes, expecting the sharp slash of the blade, but a sharp hiss filled the air. The crew's Mystic, Varien had conjured up one of his protective spells to shield his Captain from harm. With the Marine reeling backwards, Bou dispatched him with a swift movements of her daggers. Wails rang out on her opposite side when Chem tossed an acid flask onto a group of oncoming Marines.
“Na on my damned ship, Chem! Ya burn holes righ' through it!”
The chemist merely shrugged as the party of sailors leaped into the sea to save themselves from the caustic acid. Flan, was even on deck, mostly trying to avoid the blades while striking back with brushes and combs. The crew's chef, Manji was putting her kitchen cutlery to further work, while also smothering those who got too close.
At one point, the other ship sounded the retreat and amidst celebration from the crew, a trap was sprung. One of the Officers had left behind a lovely present: A grenade. Chazori cried out in alarm, “Hit tha deck! Grenade!” Shock overtook most of them. Many stared at the floor, sweeping for the explosive.
The grenade was right under the Captain.
Chazori burst through, knocking down everyone around her to the floor; She was too far from the Captain, however, the tales later would of course be splendid. Even as she attempted to recover and tackle Bou down, she knew it would be far too late
Suddenly, with most everyone on the ground, one member of the crew leaped up and was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for her Captain. Throwing herself over the grenade, the Swashbuckler known as Jasmine dove atop of the grenade and curled up around it. Bou was knocked off of her feet and to the ground, gazing up at the girl who had knocked her over to save her.
Jasmine only saw a blinding light as the grenade exploded.
And then darkness.
~~
Sitting in the infirmary bay, Chazori cocked a glance at Bou, “She's na wakin' up, ya know.”
Bou frowned at her First-Mate and shook her head, “Ever the optimistic one, ancha Chaz?”
The fellow chocobo merely shrugged, chewing on the pipe in her talons before looking down at Jasmine. It was amazing that the fox was even alive. Luck had been on her side once again, a lucky star in the Heavens above constantly shining bright. Scorchmarks and the impact from being tossed through the air were practically the extent of her injuries. In any normal situation, the shrapnel from the grenade would've shredded her to pieces. By sheer luck, the explosive was a dud and she was spared from grievous injuries.
Staring at their fully bandaged crewmate, Chazori grunted, “At least we got the spoils from the other ship. Tha crew are already warking on repairs. We needta return ta port an' fix tha major injuries but we be back in action injust a few weeks.”
Bou continued to stare at Jasmine, her talons quivering as she nods. She soon pulled aside the chest she had brought with her a laid it on Jasmine's chest, “A gift for when she wakes.”
Chazori arched a brow, “She di' save yer life. I supo' she earned it.”
They both stared at the battered Swashbuckler and Chazori rolled her shoulders, “Thar Mummy.”
Bou tilted her head and peeked at Chazori, “ Pardon?”
“Mummy. She be a Mummy. Thas what we be callin' 'er now.”
Bou merely smiled, “Ya always think of oddest thins, Chaz.”

Thank you for putting in the work, to you and Chaz as well (Need to go poke Chaz to say a thank you too!) I love how its turned out, and the story just as well, I'm seriously in need of something like this to cheer me up and despite the injuries, the picture looks bright and happy, it's an awesome look, and I personally love the idea of a swashbuckler to my name, lol
I hope this is indeed a sign there's life to come of the crew of Cap'n Bou! Thanks again for letting me take part!
