Too bad I was a shitty artist at her age and most people on here only ever bullied the everloving crap out of me to the degree I'm still rather skittish about posting any art at all or for that matter finishing my pieces.
You know when I put it like that I don't really know why I stuck around. But I did see kids like myself getting bullied like I was bullied for my art skills and it makes me want to do anything to defend them even if it makes me look "bad."
Anyway, Orlando is an inspiration, I just find it unfortunate that this website has a problem with cyberbullying towards teenagers that will not be addressed by the administration or our community in any legitimate way. Sometimes it's so bad around here I even think they should be an 18+ website before a teenager commits suicide and the parents sue FA or some such.
I hope some people read this, realize the issue, and give encouragement to the younger members of the fandom even if their art isn't at Orlando's level.

I second this and I really hope people will actually read your comment.
I'm a year younger than Orlando and I get a good share of compliments and threats. I've even been told by fursuit makers I once looked up to that I should just stop because "there's too much competition" even though I make my suits for fun.
I think everybody has an awkward stage where they join the fandom and their artwork isn't exactly A+.....

The reason why the quality of the art matters is because we made the mistake of trying to make a combination marketplace/social website work. It really, really doesn't. :/
With a marketplace, you have to expect rivalry and competition and allow it, which requires a different moderation system than a social website with a community that has their own rules and culture.
To me, mixing both is EXACTLY what fosters such an elitist, crappy attitude. This is actually why I don't take commissions and never will on this website at least.

Agreeable. That, and copying off of one another. It's understandable to like a style but there's a reoccurring theme with some pieces (hint hint, TLK style or a very very cartoony style) that people are beginning to learn to like because they see it so much.
Oh totally, it's always been like that. I just don't see how people could pick on a minor or a beginner to a craft because they have yet to learn or they show talent for it but just need some light shown their way.

Aye, to be honest, I haven't seen too much this myself here, but I get a bit of a sorrow eye whenever I see ANY person on here get bullied and such for their art, let alone a teen. I, also, don't recall gettin' backlash for I posted my works from the start, really. Though, did feel I wasn't going anywhere fast back then. However, I did find myself chattin' with other young artists, and not feelin' 'so' isolated. That, too, kept me here; bein' alongside others I could more so 'relate' with on that basis.
But, also, seeing so many artists of suck skill, as well as new ones come out of the woodwork, it gave me inspiration and drive to continually practice. Was also main part of how I found myself stickin' around here! Perhaps that can be reason for many! :)
And heck, such a thought it super flatterin', a dream even. But, I myself still have quite the way to go, improvements, techniques, etc. Overall, took the patience and good mind to simply make it this far. Could say anyone with such dedication with that could do the same, surly, and reach even HIGHER levels. Of course, can't block out the fact that the truly 'younger' part of this community can get left out and felt discouraged, but I'd say an old piece of advice: Keep at it.
Again, I myself didn't really experience such things with my creations, so of course I can't thoroughly understand. Yet, with the hard work ethics in mind, the younger groups can gain such confidence, evade the harsh thoughts from others, even improve before their very eyes. (And that last thought, DEFINITELY is a grand feeling. <3) :)

I think the fact you're a friend to other younger users is great!
I guess sometimes I wonder where that went when I was younger. I can't deny I said a few stupid things but there's so many people who do. Something's really changed at least I'll tell you that much; I recall things being harsher at one point in time! Tho we're not out of the woods yet is all I'm trying to say.
I still see it and it saddens my heart I try my best in a polite way to let it be known that isn't acceptable here. Sometimes things get a little emotional, not gonna lie, you would think "stupid words on the internet" are pretty harmless but in some ways they linger.
Seeing younger people like you gain speed and get so many friends is probably a lot of that encouragement and why I do actually choose to stay in the end.
