The Potoo is a Central and South American bird with a peculiar look and habit. During the day, the Potoo assumes a ‘frozen’ position on the end of a tree stump in order to almost perfectly blend in, hunting at night for flying insects. It lays a single egg on the end of the stump and when the hatchlings come, they appear to be white moss to a passing predator, allowing the Potoo to leave her nest at night without any worry. Their haunting call has given them the nickname ‘Poor-Me-One’, a regional legend stating that the cry is for his lover, the Moon, whom he calls to every night.

I'm sure it's a left brain/right brain thing.
