Backstory of her and her family:
The story of Iena’s family is a long and ancient one, dating back to the ancient demon-dragon war. In the wake of the reset after the war, hir family lived as nomads, traveling the world, instead of finding a place to fully settle down. They were tall, mighty dragons, and they spent their time learning about, as well as teaching others about magic, and it was not until about a thousand years ago, that they finally found a place they enjoyed. This place was located of the western coast of what was to one day be named Alaska; there they found an underwater ravine connected to a cave system, which also lead to the surface. As such, Iena’s family took up residence there. During the following years, they collected the knowledge they had acquired, as well as any new knowledge they learnt while traveling out of the cave, to improve and add onto their home with lighting, furniture and whatever else they felt that they needed, even farms.
Over the years, settlers and adventurers, as well as the tribes of the northern Americas, would approach the territory of the family. The family of dragons did not enjoy having others trespass, as they disliked others being close to their caves as they would want to be disturbed as little as possible, considering their size. They scared off whoever would approach, eventually resulting in a legend being created of a gargantuan monster whose very breath could freeze people alive. These monster tales would spread throughout the land, and attract hunters of all kinds who wanted to challenge such a mighty beast, and all of them were defeated. Technology became more advanced, harpoons were eventually put to use against the tales, as well as other equipment that was at the time, the time of the pirate era in the Caribbean, used to capture whales. Even then, the “monster” was undefeated; the fools were removed from the waters, their boats sunk, and the crew always surviving.
It came to the point, as no deaths had ever been fully proven to be associated with this “monster”, that the tale was pushed aside as one of fake legends, that the cold itself drove people mad as they had no proof of the monster’s existence; life was calm for the family now, as only a little hunter here and there would come to challenge the tales. Yet one day, one such hunter would come, yet the outcome would be greatly different than the ones before.
This hunter was a special one indeed, grey haired and old, he had hunted monsters for the majority of his adult years. Greatly experienced, he had gathered information about this “monster”; any details others would find irrelative, he would note down as he tried to figure out where to search for it. As he had figured out the place where it had been “seen” the most; he set up camp there, near a cliff next to a part of the ocean where whales could often be seen, as he figured that sooner or later, the “creature” would need to hunt. And so, he waited patiently; sure enough, the “monster” tried to scare of the hunter, however, it was to no success as the hunter would just sit next to his tent in a wooden chair, just watching in the distance. The “monster” got aggravated as he was being ignored this much by an old hunter like that; he decided to confront this old man directly, shattering the nearby ice as he showed himself.
The monster roared angrily, trying to scare of the hunter; yet again…it had no affect; again…the hunter just sat there, this time stroking his long beard. The “monster” was shocked by the reaction, thinking the old man was foolish of age; however, the old man was fascinated with this strange “monster” and eventually stood up, being the first to speak.
“I was expecting you, you really made me wait long” he said calmly to the giant before him. The monster was in deep confusion, not having expected the old man to talk to him. The man continued “there is this nice saying: the devil is not as scary as he is made to be. You’re not quite such a monster as well”. He started walking forwards the giant macro. The “monster”, on the other hand, moved back, slowly rising up until he was standing upright, being in full view; the old man then stopped and looked up.
“there, a lot better. Fully upright, not pretending to be what you’re not. A lot easier to talk too” the hunter said and smiled, taking off his hat and introducing himself to this creature. Afterwards he asked the mighty creature about its name, to which the giant macro hesitantly not only revealed, yet he also came to introduce himself too. As everything had now calmed down, the hunter told the giant being about himself; he had for long hunted legends and such giant beings, called macros, however, he wished to have an actual conversation with one. He had picked the macro that had the most interesting behavior: extremely dangerous, yet never having killed anyone. He had understood that this was all just a show, and as his final adventure, he had wanted to confront this mighty “beast”. He asked kindly if the macro would allow both himself and fishermen to come to this shore simply just to fish for food, but also if him, and his own family would be allowed to settle there.
The hunter had come from a fisherman’s family, and this was the reason why he asked specifically if his family would be allowed to settle down there. He wanted to settle down with them, to live the rest of his life just as a fisherman, while teaching his family to fish, and to trade. The macro, impressed by the bravery of the old hunter, agreed to the request. And from that day on, the two families lived as neighbors; with time, more people would come live in the settlement, and it would grow, yet the family of giant dragons were always kept hidden from the eyes of those not from the new fishing village.
Skipping to modern times, Iena was born in 1991, half a year after hir brother. She lived together with her family, who had all these years thrived down in their cavern. Hir spend much time in the fishing village, and in hir teen years, she helped guard the fishermen as they were in the sea, just as hir family had done for hundreds of years, and just as hir parents did. Hir went to schools too, disguised as a normal ice dragon, Hir got quite the nice education, and by the time hir was 21, hir wanted to explore the world. This was common for hir family, as they in their teen, or adult years often explored and adventured. Most would, however, return to iena’s family’s home in their late adulthood, and iena would probably be no exception when the time would come. Hir had fun exploring the world, even visiting members of hir family who had moved out for good, living either secluded, or social lives with micros all over the globe while still keeping contact with their family.
It wasn’t until later that Iena found out about a city where macros were respected, a city where macros could live, and not be shamed of their size, a city called Raver City. Curious and intrigued by such a place, Iena moved towards it with the intent of maybe settling down there. So she did; Iena found great enjoyment out of the city, and it proved to be a wonderful home for her. She found an underwater cavern connected to one of the neighboring mountains, which was where she made her home, living with the micros and macros of raver city, and from time to time visiting her family, and the village near them.
