I think I'll have to invite my family over.

They taste thick and buttery. Especially the white ones with the thick stems (they're called Steinpilze in germany haha).
The texture is very different from a supermarket mushroom, they're much denser and harder.
It's very hard to describe the flavor. You'll have to try one yourself! haha

Ah, if they are the ones I think they are they are definitely awesome aswell (steinsopp in norwegian)! They are among the more common edible mushrooms to find here too, which is a great thing. Don't really know any good areas around here though, I havent been out foraging since forever. And chanterels are pretty rare, but goddamn they taste amazing! Whenever we found them when I was a kid we used to just fry them up in a pan with only butter and cream and eat it on a loaf of bread.. man i would walk over corpses to get a taste of that again :I

That looks so good. I think heaps of the wild ones here are deadly poisonous and mistakeable for edible varieties, so I don't think anyone thinks about doing it here. Ppl coming from overseas have died in the news
