Using Isopryl alcohol (syringing it into the marker or pulling off the back end and filling it that way) does wonders with making the color even. They are prone to bleeding if you do that though. Apparently the problem with water based markers is the water could.
I'm not the fondest of ponies (large fandoms, not my cup o' tea) I do love the coloring on Celestia and adore the expressions on Pinkie and Derpy. My personal have is RainbowDash I think it's her pose and proportions. Cute little set c:

I'll have to give it a try, as it's usually something that happens when my markers start running a bit dry. I'd rather buy refills instead, but it's just not feasible at the moment. I'll see what I can do, though, if we have some lying around here. I just looked up a tutorial on it as a matter of fact.
Thankfully most of them aren't too bothersome, and they show up more on the scan than they do on the cards themselves. ^^; Thanks so much for the tip.
Weird thing is that I'm usually not fond of huge fandoms as well, but participating in this one has been rather fun. I realized while drawing it just how much I've missed being a part of the conventions and general nerd things.
Oddly enough, I HATED Celestia and Rainbow Dash as sketches, but they turned out to be some of the better of the bunch in my opinion. XD
