well cause it's likely he's actual buddies with him. XD plus in context, he said it the "right" way. when talking about the slang of it, without the "er" at the end instead of "a" is the rude white guy way of saying it. in fact, even black people intending to be rude say it with the "er". But when talking to their buddies, its with an "a" at the end.

the only time I feel like would be okay to say it, is when you're in private company, you're not in public, and your black friend is absolutely okay with you saying it. which I've been in that scenario before. a friend of mine who was black was totaly okay with me saying it to them. But I still declined cause I just had my own mental anxiety against it.
