But it's ability makes even normal moves have STAB, because it turns normal moves into Ice moves. so it can be quite a powerhouse if you've got strong normal type moves. Like I wonder if it can learn hyper beam. if so, that would be super powerful. since STAB makes attacks have 150% power.
yeah. maybe because you're used to hearing "150% more" and that would definatelly mean 2.5 times.
Any way. amaura's type match up isn't the worst. just have to get it's attack and spec attack up so that it can put down opponants in as few hits as possible. plus I have other pokemon of different types to make up for for when it gets a bad match up on an opponant.

There's a point where type match ups doesn't really mater. like dark/ghost is easily the best type match up. But the only pokemon that have it aren't really that powerful. So even with the best type match up they're not that usable. So just because a pokemon might have a less than good type match up, doesn't mean it's going to get destroyed alot.
I know, but I'm not examining specific Pokemon, I'm examining the typing ONLY. Dark/Ghost, on paper, seems like the best typing, because it has no weaknesses and both types are pretty tasty offensively. So obviously, the only two Pokemon that have that typing are underwhelming as hell.
Objectively, Rock/Ice is a terrible typing, so I would hope lovely ice dino here is studly enough to overcome it, otherwise they designed a bad Pokemon. There has to be some reward to go with the risk, after all. :)

Well, amaura's (and then aurorus when it evolves) is quite powerful. it's special and normal attacks are pretty close to even (special attack is somewhat higher), and both are pretty high in general. and it's rock type gives it a very high regular defense. and it's got a fairly high special defense. and it's HP is quite high too. it's easily the second highest HP on my team behind lapras. the only place it lacks in is speed. it's ability to turn normal type moves into ice type is very strong. especialy with how there aren't that many ice type moves. so in general. it's stats make up so much for it's type match up.
Well it definetly does have its strengths but when you are weakest to Nintendo's dear Lucario (who Nintendo loved so much they basically made our first experience in Mega Evolution with him and basically gives you one for free) and when Fighting was very prevalent before and now everyone is gonna pack Steel types cause of the new Fairies then I really fear for Aurorus.
But fuck competitive, I still <3 my ice dino!

HP is high but defenses are average, this isn't Bastiodon we are talking about here, her strength is in her attack stats from what I can see. It is quite improbable that she could survive three Focus Blasts in a row from a higher leveled opponent unless the opponent had a rock bottom Special Attack and lacked STAB or you conveniently count missing Focus Blast as a use or she just survived due to Amie
It can vary though. some times it takes up to 24 or so points to increase a stat by one point. so it's not always the same. depends on the pokemon and I guess at what level they're at. I once did a bunch of super training early on with my froakie and it didn't increase a single stat. but it did result in me getting a rather nice increase of stats when it leveled up.
I took a look at Amaura's stats and decided that speed was never going to be its strong suit - I decided to give it a 'mixed attacker' profile instead and max EV'd its Attack and Sp. Attack.
I might try using 'Trick Room' with Amaura to see if the speed inversion works in Amaura's favour (I've never really used Trick Room before).

Take advantage of it's ability to turn normal type moves into ice type moves as much as possible. Because you can find some really powerful normal type moves. and turning them to ice type moves gives STAB. Like i can't wait till I get a hold of Hyper beam. then aurorus (my amaura evolved.) will be able to one hit nearly anything with that attack. with a base power of 150 and with stab makes the attack have a base power of 225. nearly as powerful as Explosion.
Jeeeeez. I don't see how you can ignore that those types have 6 or 7 crippling weaknesses and call them the "best combos," and then question how I play the game. Ice is the best type out of any of those because of its offensive prowess, but Grass and Rock simply have too many weaknesses, and Psychic is usually a liability. They happen to mix just perfectly wrong to give you so many weaknesses, most of them common. Whether you like it or not, those type combos are absolutely terrible and nothing you say or accuse me of will change that.
You want a good type combo? Bug/Steel. Go look that one up. <3

Just because a type has weaknesses dose not make it a "bad type" at all, every type combo has weaknesses its how you work around them is what shows how good a type combo can be I.e ice/rock HUGE defenses and hp and grass in general is an amazing set up type not to mention psychic who's special attack will wreck even the the strongest walls, you see there is no bad typing if you care enough and train your Pokemon enough and I'm not talking about ev training, I have used my grass team a many times and have gotten very far, there are no "bad" types
Well each Pokemon has spots that they don't like you touching them (From my team my Venasaur doesn't like it being patted on the head, my Mienshao doesn't like it being stroked on the ends of her whips but the middle is okay and my Flygon doesn't like it when you stroke his eyes)
Tobad theres no way of making a egg through online. Wouldn't it be cool if you and someone else had the same pokemon but different genders and you could have them breed two eggs? Could raise the chances of getting a shiny that way if it was possible. But its nice you got a Female~
