I was honoured when I was approached to depict this scene! I learned a lot about prison Tats. Every one on that opossum means something!

I thought I answered this!
Not much to say, I was really picky in my google searches, is all!
I can't really think right now, otherwise I'd tell you all of them. x.@
I will say that the swallow on his back over the horizon represents a desire for freedom/life outside of prison. And also Swallows are akin to sailors. Maybe this guy was on the ocean in his life :3
The koi generally represents fortune and goodluck, but in this instance, it's more on the fable that a Koi would swim up a waterfall and transform into a dragon. So really, it's a desire to change into a more better version of yourself. Perhaps, after having been in prison so long, (the spiderweb on his elbow, and his wrist-there is meant to be a clock face on it but it's out of view) the inmate is trying to do better by him self, and for others in his own way.
...
so yeah! It's really interesting! Tats and sometimes where their placed are meant to tell personal stories. It's really interesting!
