Earlier this week, I posted a digital headshot of my fursona in my scraps. I felt very good about going a bit beyond my comfort zone, but I still needed some advice and critique.
was too kind to help me out with some very good words of wisdom as well as some visuals and links. So two days ago, I fired up my tablet and made another attempt at digital art using the advice she gave me. Overall, it'd take six hours (including breaks and dinner) to draw all of this out, but it was fun in the long run.
Starting off with the sketch. Well... It's actually the first sketch. It was recommended to draw two sketches before I get to the actual lineart; this first one is the "preliminary" sketch to map out the general placement of stuff such as eyes, ears, nose, etc. Once again, in retrospect, I should've created a layer for the bangs.
I have to say that it seems like a nice strategy; it's a good way to get an idea of the general shapes/forms of how I'll draw everything in better detail. However, while I should've used this opportunity to be lose and just draw general shapes, I still caught myself drawing some fur lines and even eyebrow lines which I should've saved for the second sketch.
